Tip Top Wild Thing glitter: Wasabi Whisper

I managed to pick this up quite recently.  It’s part of the new Tip Top trend and I was under the impression it would only be in stores by Feb but I saw this at our local Clicks and had to try it out.  I am not going to lie, I’ve never used loose glitter like this before so this is an experiment for me as much as a show and tell.  Let’s see how it goes shall we….

The new Tip Top Wild Thing range of loose glitter comes in tons of colours.  I saw blue, pink, coral, silver and yellow as well as the green.  My first instinct was to take the pink but I decided to go with the one that stood out most to me and I decided to take the green.  These come with a clear polish on the one end and the loose glitter on the other.  I didn’t do anything fancy, I just put the glitter on my whole nail.

I started off with my base coat and 3 coats of Tip Top Cream Puff.

I then used the clear polish provided and painted a nice squishy layer of that on top of my colour.  I then took the little tube of glitter and just sprinkled it over my nail.  Tip:  Do this over a piece of paper.  You can use that paper to get all the excess glitter back into the tube when you are done.

I then took a big fan brush and gently brushed all the excess glitter off my nail and onto the paper.  If you don’t have a brush like this I am sure any type of brush will work but you could also just use your finger.  I then added another coat of the clear polish provided.   That’s about it.  I do think with more practice I could get it to look a bit more refined but not too shabby for a first try.

Please excuse the quality of these photo’s.  I couldn’t find a spot to do this in that wasn’t too windy and still had enough light.

Just a few things to mention.  I have seen a tons of videos and tutorials on how to apply the loose glitter to your nail.  The method is pretty much the same.  One difference between Tip Top’s wild thing range is that the glitter isn’t your typical glitter size and shape.  Usually the glitters are very fine and small as you would think of craft glitter to be.  These glitters are more like small little bars. It’s gorgeous.  It really gives a unique texture and look to it.

You could also use a different shaped container to put the glitter in where you can just dip your nail into the jar but the way I did it did not pose any problems for me at all.

I can’t wait to get more of these colours and to see all the other goodies in the range.  I love the texture of this on my nail.  They really do sparkle too.
