Tuesday Stamping #7

I hope all my South African readers had a great long weekend.  If you are back at work today then I am sorry.  I will enjoy being in holiday mode for everyone’s sake 😉  I have decided to make this the last Tuesday Stamping post for 2013.  I will carry on with them again on the first Tuesday of 2014.  Which is only 3 weeks from now.  Yes, in less than 3 weeks it will be 2014.  Eeek!

If you have read any of these before I suggest you skip everything and just go straight to the photo’s.  If you’re new to the blog or haven’t seen these yet then I suggest you go take a look at Tuesday Stamping #1.  I explain most of it there but will I also give a brief run down in this post.  So if you’ve read it,  scroll over the first bit of text 😉

Basically, this is how I am going to do it.  I am going to be stamping over black and white. White will be the lightest colour you ever wear and black the darkest.  What better way to see how a polish works over dark and light colours.  Now, obviously, not many will actually want to stamp OVER black but it will be a good way to find out if a polish will show up over dark colours.  If it shows up on black you can be pretty certain it will show up over everything.  That does mean that if it is noticeable but not very, it will probably work much better over say a purple or a blue.  I will try to address this with each polish I show you as well.

I will also be using the same plate for all the stamping to make sure there will be continuity.  I chose a stamp that had some images with thin lines, with bigger spaces, with some detail etc.  That way you can see if a polish will stamp crisp lines when they are thin or if it will smudge when the image has bigger spaces.  I decided to go with Pueen11. I will be using the 4 full nail images on this plate.

I will show you 4 of my ordinary polishes with every post.  If you want to see more or less per post please let me know.  I will use 4 random polishes each time until I have worked through all the polishes I have (excluding glitters of course) and I will show you everything, whether it stamped well or not.  I will also be showing you my first attempts at all of them.  Sometimes it happens that you move the stamper a little bit when you stamp onto the nail.  Or you waited just a second too long and the whole image doesn’t transfer.  Or you press too hard and get the shadow stamping.  Usually if this happens I would remove it and stamp again.  It also happens that a polish looks so promising and after you’ve stamped you think, ah this could look better if I tried it once or twice more.  I will not be doing any of that.  What I stamp first try is what you get.  I just feel that you can get a better result if you keep trying but the mark of a good stamping polish is how well it works straight off the bat.

Today is 4 random Tip Top polishes.  I unfortunately had to use an old photo with my old setup for one of these so you will see quite a difference.

Tip Top – Lemon Fuel

When I did this batch of stamping I could not get my pinky to stamp well no matter what I did.  It doesn’t reflect on the polishes I used but completely user error on my part.  You can see (mostly by my index finger) that Lemon Fuel showed up quite well over the black.  On the white it is so light that it was barely visible.  It didn’t stamp too badly, the lines are fairly clear, but I am not sure if I would use this for stamping often.  Not considering I have already shown a yellow (Essence – wanna be your sunshine) that stamps really well.

Tip Top – Sexy Bikini

You can see here what I meant about my pinky.  Another fail that is all me.  It does show up on the black but not super clearly.  It shows up beautifully on the white though.  Sexy Bikini also stamps really well.  Lines are crisp and clear.  I must have had an off day when I stamped these because I seemed to make more mistakes than anything else.  The missing patch on my index is me, taking too long.  This one is really great for stamping though so it will go straight onto my stamping polishes list.

Tip Top – Surfer Girl

This is the old photo with my old setup.  You can see quite the difference.  Beside that, Surfer Girl is AMAZING to stamp with.  Look how beautifully it shows up over both the black and the white.  With very crisp and clear lines.  I was quite surprised by Surfer Girl to be honest, but in a completely good way.  Surfer Girl has moved quite high on my ‘great to stamp with’ list.  I love Surfer Girl in general and considering how beautifully it stamps I will definitely be getting a back up bottle.

Tip Top – We have an agreen mint

Once again, I messed up my pinky to some degree.  We have an agreen mint does show up decently over the black and the white.  It isn’t the best polish for stamping I have used but it is fairly decent.  The lines are fairly crisp and clear.  I will put this one on the list for stamping but on the reserves.  If I absolutely must have stamping in this shade of green I know I can.  I would actually like to use this again with colours to see how it performs with further use.  So not great but not bad.

Like I mentioned above, this will be the last Tuesday Stamping post for 2013 and I will continue with them on the first Tuesday of 2014.  There will definitely be other posts but just not these.  I am also considering stopping all posts for the week between Christmas and New Year but I have not decided yet.  I have family arriving on New Years day so right now I am just trying to work out my schedule.  In the mean time I will keep bombarding you with my posts. 🙂
