Comparison: China Glaze – Reggae to riches vs Color Club – Ultra violet

Brand new week ahead of us.  The last week of January too.  Let’s grab it with both hands and make it a good one!

Last week I showed you a swatch of China Glaze – Reggae to riches and I mentioned how it reminded me of Color Club – Ultra violet – which I showed you here.  So I thought I would do a comparison.  Let me show you.

Both of these are 2 coats each.  If I had to describe them to you they would both sound the same.  Magenta with blue shimmer.  But there are slight differences.  Let’s start with formula.  You can see that Color Club – Ultra violet is more opaque.  In 2 coats there is not even a hint of VNL.  On the China Glaze – Reggae to riches there is a slight hint of VNL but both of them applied beautifully and have a really good formulas.  The magenta tones in Ultra violet are slightly lighter than in Reggae to riches.  The blue shimmer is also a slightly lighter blue in Ultra violet.  The blue shimmer in Ultra violet is smaller and a lot more than in Reggae to riches which gives Ultra violet an almost frosty look at first.

So all in all, they are slightly different.  In my opinion you could easily have both but you probably don’t need both.  Even though I adore both of these I think Reggae to riches wins by smidge for me.  The blue shimmer is just a bit more obvious and I like to contrast between the blue and the magenta base.  But I really do love both.
