Born Pretty Store Stamper review – Dual XL Stamper with Rhinestone Cap

What a fabulous week it has been so far. I am in love with this stunning weather we are having.  I could do with a little less rain so that it wasn’t so hard to get the dogs to go outside but I am not going to complain too much.  How has your week been so far?

I just recently got Born Pretty Store delivery and I can’t wait to start playing with all my nail art goodies.In the mean time I have a stamper to show you.  I was very excited to receive this stamper.  I am showing you the Dual XL Clear Jelly Stamper with rhinestone cap.  You can find it here (or click on the image below)

This is a big, clear round stamper and it also has a removable bottom with another stamper head.  It arrives in a clear box with 2 scrapers. The scrapers are thing and soft but smaller than a credit card.  I am a huge fan of these scrapers so I am always thrilled to get more than one.  The stamper itself has quite a few parts, let me show you

The stamper has a top cap that fits on the ‘main’ stamper.  Then the stamper with the open bottom and a lip around the edge under the head.  Then it has the bottom holder with the bling crystals in the bottom of the holder and the other stamper head. Both stamper heads are easily removable and the bottom stamper head also fits in the top slot.  The only problem with the bottom holder is that the crystals make it hard to see through.  Both heads are also different shapes (I’ll show you in a sec) so it’s nice that they are interchangeable.

There is a very slight difference in the width of each stamper head.  It looks like there is a difference because of the shape difference but the difference is a mm or two.

Here is a better view of the different shapes.  The stamper head on the right is the top head and the stamper on the left is the bottom head.  The top head is more curved and similar to most of my stamper heads.  The bottom head has a flat top and only a slight curve at the edges.  This does make quite a difference in how they stamp which I will show you better in my stamping tests.

This is what the top holder looks like when the head is removed.  Here you can see the lip that the head rests on.  This makes such a difference.  It makes the head feel much softer than it probably is because pressing on it let’s it give way considerably.  Because of the wide lip there is no chance of the head popping ‘out’ and dropping.  When you use the head in the bottom holder it doesn’t have this ‘softness’. The bottom is completely solid so there is no give when you press on the head.  It makes the head used in the top holder softer and movable which really helps with curved nails. So let me show you how they stamped with polish

The images on the left were done using the top stamper and the images on the right were done using the bottom stamper. All of them were picked up using the rolling method.

• The first test I did was using Mundo de Unas – Avocado.  The top stamper stamped pretty decently but the bottom stamper had a bit of problems in the middle section. Actually, both of them had issues in the middle.  The top just missed picking up section whereas the bottom picked it up a bit patchy.
• The next one was using Essence – Coral me crazy.  In this case, both seemed to do pretty well.
• Next up is China Glaze – Harmony.  Again, the top stamper picked up pretty well and the bottom one did decently except for a few minor gaps here and there. Mostly on the edge of the image.
• Next up is Sinful Colors – Snow me white. The top one stamped as close to perfect as it can.  The bottom did well but but not perfect.  In this case it is a good example of how the bottom stamp is harder to see through with the crystals in the base of the holder. I had my fingers underneath like in the top stamper hoping it would help the white show up better but as you can see, you can barely see my fingers showing.

I was quite impressed with how well the stamper performed.  The top stamper is perfectly soft and squishy.  It is a great size, able to pick up large images.  I also love how the bottom is so open, making it great to see through.  The bottom stamper is not as easy as the top one when it comes to picking up bigger images but it is perfect for the smaller images.  The images that are not full nail images will be perfect for this bottom stamper.  Worst case, it is great as a back up.  My only real complaint with this stamper is that I have managed to get polish on the sides of the holder.  I am too scared to try and remove it with remover as the last time I dd that, it turned the plastic milky.  It isn’t a major concern for me as it doesn’t affect using it.  It just looks a bit messy and makes my OCD spazz out.

I also did some nail art using this stamper.  Let me show you

I started with 2 coats of China Glaze – Recycle on all my nails and left that to dry completely. I then stamped on all my nails using BP-L020 and Mundo de Unas – Ribbon.  I then stamped over that using BP-L015 and Mundo de Unas – Holly.  I topcoated and that was that.  I really quite enjoyed the colour combination as well as the images used.  But more so, the stamper performed really well.
