I am super super proud of this one. I mentioned in Fridays post that I am going to try something new and different.
I’ve been seeing a few reciprocal gradients around and I fell in love. I love the look of it.
The colours I used were:
Tip Top – Melting Marshmallow
Tip Top – Sitting Pretty
Tip Top – Pot-O-Berries
I painted one coat of Tip Top – Sitting Pretty on all my nails as a base colour. Once that was completely dry I took my make up sponge and made a gradient starting with the darkest shade (Tip Top – Pot-O-Berries) at my cuticle and the lightest shade (Tip Top – Melting Marshmallow) at my tip. When that was completely dry, I took 3 pieces of striping tape per nail and tried to space them out evenly. I was tempted to do more but I thought I would take it easy on the first time. I am glad I did because I think 3 is perfect. So anyway, I put the striping tape on all of my nails and then went back to the make up sponge. This time I did the colours in reverse order. I started with the lightest colour (Tip Top – Melting Marshmallow) at my cuticles and the darkest (Tip Top – Pot-O-Berries) at the tips. I went over each nail twice with the make up sponge so I ended up doing the first ‘coat on all nails on one hand. On the second coat I took the tape off as I was done with each nail. I finished it off with topcoat and bob’s your aunty!!
What do you think of this reciprocal gradient? My mind has been racing with possibilities of what can be done with this. Do you have any suggestions? Let me know so that I can try some of them out. Oh and by the way, I have been adding all my swatches into albums on the FB page. If you want to see a particular colour or just want to browse feel free to have a look through them. They are not 100% up to date yet but at least it is a start and I will update them as soon as I have swatched the polish. Also, do you want me to show you the swatches of each colour on their own in each post? (Like in this one, would you like to see the three pinks I used on their own in this same post?) I have been adding them but then wasn’t sure so I have been leaving them out. Let me know what you prefer ok? Oh and one last thing, I have finally gotten around to adding my collection to the blog. If you look at the top there is a “My Collection” tab. It is still a work in progress so it will be updated often and the format will be sorted out soon as well. Ok that’s it. I am done. 🙂

For me, if I’ve swatched the colour before then I put a link in to the swatch instead of reposting the pic BUT if I’ve never swatched before then add the pic. That’s what easier for ME but it depends on what works for YOU.
Love the mani, obviously coz it’s gradients and I personally think you did a very good job B-)

My first thought was, “Oh, my gosh, this is amazing,” and then I read you saying you were super-proud of yourself and I thought, “You SHOULD be!”
I want to say that I think it’s cool that you include individual swatches of the polishes that you use, but I know that is more work, and I don’t even live in SA for you to enable me, so I feel selfish. Just saying I think it’s cool, haha.

Thank you, It isn’t really so much more work because I do have swatch photo’s of almost all my polishes so it’s just a matter of adding them to the post. The only brand you can’t get there is Tip Top, otherwise I think they are all available on your side. So let me enable you! 😛
