Please tell us more about yourself and your blog

Hi Lovelies! My name is Thea and I own a lil space on the interwebs called Madness Nails. I haven’t been super active on it lately as I’ve been organizing a wedding, getting married and then moving into a new place so things have been CRAZY! But about me and my blog: I am a HUGE GEEK! HUUUUGE! My kids are my husband and I’s Xbox, our pc and my nail polish babies. I love cartoons, anime (yes, there’s a difference), gaming, memes, inappropriate jokes, high-fives, superheroes and hugs! My blog is basically my online diary where I share my love for nail art and all things nail polish related. Sometimes my inner geek creeps through the cracks but I honestly don’t mind. It’s who I am and I embrace my inner child with joy!

How did you get into polish?

Ah, the memories! When I was in high school I already had a love for nail polish but I was very…mentally ”limited” in my colour choices (aka I was a wanabee emo kid, just no cutting) so I had about 15 polishes which consisted of black, dark blue, a few darker purples and red/oxblood polishes. Then a few years later I was browsing 9gag and saw an AMAZING Dexter (everyone’s favorite psychopath) manicure and I just had to know how she did the blood splatter effect. So after a quick google search, I found Nail Nerd’s blog and I was obsessed! Before you knew it I was spending almost all my free time reading up about nail art and nail art techniques. I was in love! 4 years later I am still in love and my stash is WAY bigger than 15…and constantly growing!

What is your own favourite kind of nail art / swatch that you’ve done?

Oh my glob, this is tricky one! I have a few mani’s I am quite proud of but I loved my Gunther mani I did for last year’s 31 Day Nail Art Challenge. A close favorite is my Unicorn Rash Mani.

What is your favourite kind of nail art / technique?

Watermarbling and no, I’m not drunk!

What technique gives you grey hairs? Which one can you just not master or is your least favourite?

*facepalm* Gradients…I…It is so….UGH! Dude, I look at your gradient mani’s and I LOVE it! LOVE IT! Then I have a second of insanity where I think I can recreate the awesomeness and I fail! EPICLY! It’s like those villains in comics I want to hate so badly but I can’t so I just crush on them hard and die a little inside! DAMMIT LOKI, WHY ARE YOU SO GLORIOUS???

How do you get your nail time on? (Work at night, early in the morning etc)

Well, first I like to light some candles and put on a bit of mood music…Def Leppard’s “Pour Some Sugar On Me” usually gets me right there. Then I lay my polish babies on the floor and pull my best American Beauty impression out, just rolling around between them, trying my hardest not to look like a beached whale but alas…OH, you mean when?? Crap, I didn’t see that bit in the brackets. Okay, so let’s just pretend that first bit didn’t happen mkaaay. I do most of my work on weekends and I try to do at least 3 evenings a week after supper.

What has been your proudest moment so far?

I go “squeeeeeee” about many things so I am going to round it off by saying being on here is one of my proudest moments! For those of you who don’t know, I am not only an obvious Ordinary Misfit aka THE UNICORN fangirl but I love this lady like a sister! – *awwwww….ditto!!*

Most embarrassing nail moment or nail fail? (feel free to show us)

Oh laaaawd, my Abalone “animal print” mani I tried to do for last year’s 31 Day Nail Art Challenge. Can you hear that?? That’s the sound of my inner artist weeping for my bruised ego! WEEPING!!!!

What polish would you sell your soul for?

Well that escalated quickly! Lol nah, It used to be Nail-Venturous Floam until someone hooked a gurl up with a sick dupe! BOOM! *high fives all around* Now it’s probably Max Factor “Fantasy Fire”.

What is your favourite snack while doing your nails?

Dude, my favorite snack period! Candy!!!! GET IN MAH BELLY! I love Mr Sweet’s Juicy Jellies, Skittles or Wonka Nerd Ropes. Pshhhh…And people wonder why I look the way I look.

Which cartoon character do you relate to most?

I would love to say something epic like Marceline from Adventure Time but I’m probably more a Butters from South Park or a mixture of Louise and Tina from Bobs Burgers. Sooooo I’m going to go with my Tina/Louise mix. I totally get Tina’s awkward side and weirdness, and unfortunately like her I don’t know what is really “normal” so most of the things I blurt out tend to make people go “What??”. BUT, I do have a very strange sense of humor also which I love about myself so Louise has a very special place in my heart!

The only polish colours in front of you are black, electric blue and neon orange. What do you do and what do you use – and why?

Black base and the colours I splatter! Like a mish mush of neony epicness! ANARCHY!!!!

Compare your favourite tv / movie crush with a polish and why?

Any strong holographic polish. In low light they are already gorgeous but hit the sunlight and BOOM! Your ovaries explode! I feel that way about Tom Hiddleston and David Tennant, except just replace the sun with that sneaky smile they do sooooo well! …Whooooo, it is getting a lil hot in here! Early PMS, must be!

If you could create your own custom polish, what would it be and what would it be named?

Oh wow, I was also blessed with a polish very similar to my dream custom polish but let’s give it another go. I would love a clear base polish with shredded chunky red, black and purple glitters in it to kind of commemorate the original polishes that started my love for nail polish. I’ll call it “The Madness Begins”.
