Born Pretty Store clear stamper comparison [pic heavy]

Did you have a good weekend?  Mine was super busy but good.  I am a little dead however.  I did bootcamp yesterday and I can barely walk, never mind anything else.  It was really good though.  I think.  Maybe.  I don’t want to talk about it anymore 😛

When I placed a Born Pretty Store order a few months ago I was specifically looking for a clear stamper.  It’s not like I have a shortage of stampers but I really wanted to give one a try.  I went through the list of clear stampers in their store and there were quite a few.  I didn’t know what the differences where or what I should be looking for and in the end I just felt very confused.  I then had a brilliant idea of getting a few of them, seeing what made them different and then telling YOU.  Just in case someone out there was just as confused as I was.  So let me show you which one I got and what – If any – the differences were.

These were the 4 clear stampers I got, in the packaging they arrived in.  So let’s take it one by one shall we.

This is the first one and you can find it here. This is a clear stamper with a white holder.  It also comes with a plastic scraper. The back of the stamper is open so you can see right through the holder to the stamper head.

This is the second one and you can find it here.  This is a clear stamper in a pink holder and comes with a pink plastic scraper.  Yup, as you can tell, it is exactly the same as the one above just in a different colour.

This is the third stamper and you can find it here. This is a clear stamper with a plastic scraper and yes, once again it is exactly the same as the two above but in purple this time.

Aha, finally one that is different.  This is a clear stamper in a clear holder with the card plastic scraper and you can find it here.  The holder is completely closed at the back and comes with a cap for the stamper head as well.

I know right now you are all thinking “so why is she showing us 3 stampers that are the same?”.  I am showing you because if I had known they were exactly the same I would’ve been a lot less confused about which one to buy.  Hopefully this will help one of you too.  Currently in the description some of them are specified as a colour but at the time I ordered I did not see this (I don’t know if it was changed later or if I am blind).  All of these are also described as ‘marshmallow’ stampers.  They definitely are not.  They are still soft and easy to press onto your whole nail but they are not marshmallow.  If you have the black, round, double ended stamper from Born Pretty Store then you can imagine these are all similar to that one in softness.  Again, really nice to stamp with but I will not describe it as marshmallow at all.

Ok, I did do one stamp with each of these.  I know 3 are the same but I stamped with them anyway.  Let me show you the base I used to stamp on.

This is 2 coats of China Glaze – I’m sorry I’m latte stamped with Mundo de Unas – Sky blue and BP-L016.  I then started stamping each nail with a different stamper.

This is the image I used to stamp with.  This is the white holder stamper and this is how it picked up and

this is how it looks if you look from the bottom through the holder.  (sorry this wasn’t in focus) The clear / white holder doesn’t hinder it at all but then I didn’t expect a light holder to be an issue.

This is the pink holder and how it picked up the image.

This is looking at it through the holder.  I wasn’t sure if the colour of the holder would darken the view but it didn’t affect it at all.   There is still one more (darker) colour to test though.

This is the purple holder.  Again exactly the same as the other 2 above.

And looking at it through the holder.  No interference by the colour of the holder at all.  I did mess up a bit with picking up the image but otherwise not bad at all.

This is the last clear stamper with the cap and solid clear holder.

And looking at it through the holder.  The solid holder doesn’t distort the image at all but you will have to make sure that the bottom of the stamper is clean because that will affect how clearly you can see the image.

Here is each stamper stamped per nail.  My index is the first white holder stamper.  My middle is the pink holder.  My ring finger is the purple holder and my pinky is the clear solid holder.  As you can see they all stamped really well and it was SO much easier placing an individual image on my nail if I could see exactly where to place it.

I must also say I did not prime any of the stampers.  The stamping I did here is out of the packaging and straight to work.  I did also hear that if you clean the stamper head with acetone it will make the head cloudy – and therefore hard to see through.  I did not try it and I won’t either.  I definitely don’t want to purposefully cloud the heads. I would recommend using either a lint roller or tape.  I usually use a lint roller but tape works just as well.

I wish I didn’t buy 3 of the same stamper out of confusion.  Thats exactly why I wanted to share what the actual differences were. I like having a backup of a good stamper though so it’s not a total train smash.  If you are in the market for just ONE stamper though, you can now tell the difference between them.  The heads are all the same.  They are the same softness, the same size and they stamp the same so it really comes down to your preference in holder.
