Happy Friday! This week has flown by! Did you have a good week? I hope you have a fabulous weekend planned as well. I am hoping to catch up on some work and do a lot of relaxing. I have a BOX full of new polishes to play with and start swatching. I also a bunch of sewing to do. I’m excited!
A few weeks ago I mentioned that I had 2 Essence – Free hugs polishes and that they were different colours. One is from the older ‘Colour and go’ collection and one is from the ‘The Gel’ collection. I always think its such a gas when I end up with polishes with the same name and even more so when it is from the same brand. Let me show you what they look like.
Essence – Free hugs (Colour and go)
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. It is a beautiful light pink creme with a stunning formula. This was one of the first polishes I ever bought and still one of my favourites. I even have a backup, which is a good thing considering it has been discontinued. The formula is stunning and it applies beautifully. It really is a pity that it won’t be around but I do suspect I spotted a close shade in the new The Gel range. Perhaps another comparison?
Essence – Free hugs (The Gel)
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. It’s a beautiful brown creme but it is a shade of brown that is luxurious and classy. It reminds me of Louis Vuitton for some reason. The formula on this one is gorgeous and buttery and it is so opaque it is almost a one coater. Definitely a favourite in the new collection.

I do really like each of them. I’m not sure I’d be able to pull off a brown like this but I do really like it anyway!
I know right? Free hugs is such a pink and squishy colour, how do they end up with brown. I have a suspicion that the brown shade would look great on your skin tone. 😉
The pink is cute, but that brown… ohhh!!
That’s a color I can never have enough of and that usually looks good with my skin tone as well.
I foresee a trip to the drug store, I think we’re completely out of… ehm… aspirin.
It’s a total coincidence that they happen to sell essence over there, honest!
Guuurrllll!!! I’ve thrown away stuff before to have an excuse to go to the shop. You really are a girl after my own heart 😛 I must admit, the brown is GORGE and is just the kind of shade you don’t expect to love and then it looks gorgeous and you have to have all the brown.
How on earth do these two have the same name?? Makes zero sense!
Right? I mean, I’ve seen the same name across brands but not in the same brand. Essence seems to love doing it.
