52 week nail art challenge – Week 49: Summer

Hey guys,

Did you have a good weekend? I managed to get some stuff done and relax a bit so it has been pretty good.  Still nursing some sniffles and coughs (not my own, although I can feel it coming). I also can’t seem to sleep enough but I am also getting used to that.  What did you get up to?  Now that it is December there seems to be a lot of holiday and christmas events all over.  I just want to feel the holiday rest 😉 I am still debating about taking a blog holiday over Christmas.  I am still doing the challenge and will continue to do it regardless but I think I might take about 2 weeks off and just post the #52weeknailchalelnge and the Friday Triad post.

It is already  week #49 of the #52weeknailchallenge from Polish Portfolio   That means after this week we only have 4 prompts left.  This challenge is similar to the 31 Day challenge except  this is one prompt for every week of the year. You can share yours on any day of the week as long as it falls within the week.  Here is the list of prompts and you can use #52weeknailchallenge to keep track of any posts. There is also a whole new list of prompts for next year.  I hope you’ll join us then.

The prompt this week is Summer and I have to admit.  I struggled.  This prompt followed the Neon prompt and I had a really hard time not making these two look alike.  I love neon for summer and summer screams neon so I wanted to make very sure that there was a difference between what I did for these prompts.  So I struggled.  I had so many ideas and after trying each a few times, I was ready to just call it quits all together :P.  Instead I managed to get something so let me show you that.

I started with 2 coats of Sinful Colors – Snow me white on all my nails and let that dry completely.  I then used Lina Make your mark 03 to make a gradient on my index and ring finger using Mundo de Unas – Barbie, Geranium and yellow.  I also used Mundo de Unas – Geranium and Lina Feeling Shapely 02 to make orange polka dots on my middle finger.  I then double stamped those same polka dots using Mundo de unas – Black. On my index finger I stamped the palm trees over the gradient using Lina Summer 02 and Mundo de unas – Black.  On my ring finger I stamper the ‘summer’ and flower image using Lina Summer 02 and Mundo de unas – Black.  On my pinky I stamped the ‘I love summer’ and palm tree using Lina Summer 02 and Mundo de Unas – Black and then I added an orange line underneath using Lina Feeling shapely and Mundo de Unas – geranium.  I topcoated and after hours of struggle, I finally called it a day.

What do you think?  Does it say summer? I don’t love it but I also don’t hate it.  I think it’s just because I struggled so much to get my idea to take shape and eventually I just called it quits. That bums me out because I love summery, bright nail art.  I guess it just means I have to do more summer nail art.
