Hi lovelies,
Are you having a good week? I haven’t been sleeping well lately so I feel like nap time all the time. Don’t you hate that? Once you’ve missed out on some sleep it seems impossible to catch up again. It’s been a good week though so can’t complain too much.
Quite a while ago I ordered these gorgeous decals from Born Pretty Store and within days of receiving them I had a break and I cut my nails short. It went downhill from there with having break after break so my nails have been short for what feels like forever. I knew what I wanted to do with them but I knew I wanted (or needed?) my nails to be a bit longer. So I waited…..
Finally I got to use them and I wasn’t disappointed. I bought these decals (in pattern D211) in black and knew I wanted to wear them with a nude polish. I decided to go with
OPI – Don’t pretzel my buttons
This is 2 coats with no topcoat and I so love this polish. I am desperate to find it in a full size after not being able to find one anywhere. Beautiful creamy formula (even for a mini bottle) and great opacity.
When this was completely dry I added the decals using water. This is the result
I feel a little like this was cheating because it was SO easy. I had a bit of an issue when I top coated this. I started on my pinky and it seemed like the decal was ‘falling apart’ from the topcoat. I made my topcoat a little thicker for the rest and made sure to be very careful and it definitely went better from there. I really love this so much. I love the black on the nude and the pattern is just so gorgeous. I want to try a few more of the other patterns as well.
What do you think? What other colour combinations should I try?
Thanks for reading,

I love the final effect! OPI – Don’t pretzel my buttons seems a very special nude color, I’ll definitely look into it.

Don’t Pretzel my Buttons is a perfect nude and I LOVE those decals! I’ve had the same problem when topcoating a decal in the past. I think if any of the top coat gets under the decal it’s almost as if it dissolves it.

That is such a good point Kerry. I didn’t even think of the topcoat getting under the decal. Thanks, I will definitely keep an eye on that. Thank you.

I remember choosing between this one and My Very First Knockwurst for a nude when the Germany collection came out. 😉 This pretzel one looked bad on me, but it sure doesn’t on you! This is beautiful. I think trying the decals out with a nude to start with was a good call. 😉

Oh My very first knockwurst is also one I really want to get my hands on.
Thanks so much Lesley. xx

I love this look! I’ve used several water decals with different top coat, and so far I’ve always had a little bit of melting. They just don’t play well with my quick dry top coats. I wonder if they would be ok with a slower drying one, but who has time for that?!? 😀
Michelle Roberts
Thank you so much. Hahahaha You’re right, who has time for regular dry topcoat. Defintiely not me 😛
