Hi lovelies,
Are you having a good week? Summer has hit Durban in full force this week and I believe tomorrow is going to be a scorcher. I am not looking forward to it. Anyway, on to the glitter 🙂
I knew I wanted to do glitter placement for this prompt. I’ve never done it before but I love how beautiful it looks. It didn’t really go as well as I had planned and after doing 3 versions I finally settled on the ‘cheat’ version. I will show you all 3 but the main one…..
Yup, that’s it. Little glitter flowers 😛 I started with 2 coats of Essence – Black is back. Once that was completely dry I went to work with some regular top coat and loose glitter. I used a goldish glitter for the centre of the flower and then used red for the petals. I then added a few green glitters for the leaves. On my middle finger I did 3 rows of green glitter. Topcoated and done. I wasn’t really feeling it but man is glitter placement harder than it looks. Am I just being silly? What is the trick? I am not sure if I was just me being in too much of a rush or needed to use something different to place them. I don’t think I am too fussy. I will keep practicing though. Shout if you have any tips. Let me show you the other 2 versions
Here I started with 2 coats of Essence – Icy princess (original version) and once that was dry I tried to make stripes with blue and pink glitter.
Here I started with 2 coats of Essence – Black is back. Once that was dry I placed the coppery coloured glitter. See the gaps on the tip of my index and some spots at the cuticle? I swear there was glitter there. I took the photos (many of them) and looked at my nails, I could see the glitter but it was just not coming out on the photo. How bizarre!
Glitter placement takes forever and my stiff neck was evidence of it. I love the effect though and will definitely keep at it. I actually have a really cool idea that I will work on and show you after the challenge 🙂
The polishes I used here:
Essence – Black is back
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. I actually really like this glitter. It has a good formula and good opacity.
Essence – Icy princess (original version)
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. This is a silver foil and I do know they have ‘upgraded’ this polish. The new version is more metallic / chrome. This is a little sheer on the first coat but looks great on the second. Good formula too. This is the silver version of Go Bold.
Here is the poster with the prompts in case you want to follow along or even just to see what’s coming up. You can also check out other posts from todays prompt by checking out the Inlinkz goodie below or following the #31DC2014 on all social media platforms.

I’m with everyone – my favorite is the second one! The first one reminds me of Lite Brite or old video games!
I’m considering trying glitter placement for a mani prompt next week – I’m predicting a mess, lol.
