Essence range update *my picks*

Hi lovelies,

Happy Monday!  Did you have a good weekend? What did you get up to?  It was super hot again this weekend but instead of being lazy in the pool we ended up in air conditioned shopping malls.  Good enough right? 😛

Late last year Essence had another range update and you know how much I love those.  I am a big Essence fan.  They have great colours, great combinations, great polishes and also at a great price.  They are also cruelty free which as you know, is a HUGE plus for me.  I own more Essence polishes than any other brand and there is not an Essence polish I have been able to find on the shelves that I don’t have.  The only ones I don’t have are ones I have not been able to find yet. Therefore this post is only ‘my picks’ of the update, as I have not been able to find them all.  There are some real beauties though so let me show you.

Essence – Best dressed

This is 2 coats with no topcoat.  It’s a dark purple base packed with silvery shimmer. It reminds me very much of Sinful Colors – I love you (I have not compared them yet) I absolutely love this one and the formula is great. It really applied beautifully. Let me also just mention, add topcoat and this one really shines too.  The shimmer creates so much depth.  Definitely a favourite.

Essence – Candy crush (The matt)

This is 2 coats with no topcoat. It is a coral matte creme.  This is such a beautiful colour and I really like it matte.  You can obviously make it shiny by adding a topcoat which makes this beautiful colour very versatile.  This has a great formula and is almost a one coater.  I didn’t wear this for very long on my swatch hand but I did wear it on my other hand for 5 days before I saw slight tipwear.  I was really impressed.

Essence – Happy end

This is 2 coats with no topcoat.  It’s a beautiful pink creme and dries very shiny. I really like this pink.  I obviously have many pinks but I am not sure if it is similar to any I already own.  Maybe Essence – Ultimate pink would be close.  Great formula and also really opaque.  Almost one coater as well.

**Edit to add** After drafting this post it seems this one might not have been in THIS range update but in the one before.  I haven’t seen it on the shelf till now so I am keeping it in this post anyway 

Essence – I <3 my blue jeans (The suede)

This is 2 coats with no topcoat.  It’s a dark blue / navy polish with a suede finish (according to Essence).  It’s basically a matte blue but with a slightly more shiny finish.  It also had an almost texture / denim look to it but doesn’t feel textured.  You can see this better on my middle nail on the right side (where the light is catching it).  Another great formula and another almost one coater.  This is really gorgeous.

Essence – Kiss me Freddy

This is 2 coats with no topcoat.  It’s hard to really describe this polish (was also tricky to capture it) but it’s a minty green colour with silver micro glitter and hints of blue as well.  It really is unique and I don’t own anything like it.  Formula was good and the opacity surprised me.  I expected it to be much more sheer at first than it was.  I don’t know who Freddy is but I will kiss him for sure.

Essence – Love is in the air

Boy oh boy did I struggle to capture this one.  I have NO idea why.  My skin looks really strange but the polish is pretty accurate so there’s that.  This is 2 coats with no topcoat.  It’s a bright pastel yellow creme and is so nice.  The formula was really great and the opacity too.  I do have a few yellows that might be similar (I haven’t compared yet) but I think the formula on this one might win.

Essence – You wow’d me again

This is 2 coats with no topcoat.  This is a duochrome that is purple / blue in some lights and greenish in others.  It is really so beautiful!  I would love to wear this one over black.  Formula was really good and not too brushstrokey.  The opacity was also really good. As I am sure you know duochromes aren’t always easy to capture the real beauty so here is another snap showing off more of the green tones and the colour shift.

It is really pretty and I am looking forward to try it over black as I have heard that really makes the duochrome pop.
