Hi lovelies,
It’s Friday! I am looking forward to the weekend. It’s my husband’s birthday on Sunday and even though we don’t have any set plans yet it’s bound to be a good weekend. I hope you have a good weekend planned too?
Can you believe it’s that time again? If you haven’t seen any of these or want to know what it’s all about you can find the first post here.
The March theme was chosen by Sanita and she chose……BLUE!! I actually like it and even though we were bound by a colour, that is really the only restriction. I had tons of ideas. And then I didn’t. It would seem when you can do ANYTHING it actually becomes a little hard. Anyway, I did end up doing something and used only blue polish except for the black stamping. Ok, let me show you
I was inspired by this video of Opal Hazlett and I really wanted to do it. When I considered a blue water marble for this challenge I immediately knew this was the perfect time to do it. I started with 1 coat of Sinful Colors – Sugar rush on all my nails except my index where I used 2 coats. Once it was all dry I started with the water marble. For the water marble I used Sinful Colors – Sugar rush, Sally Hansen – Pacific blue (old version), Sally Hansen – Blinding blue and Tip Top – Blue my whistle. I create the pattern with thin lines so that the water marble would still be visible with the stamp. While I was waiting for the water marble to dry I started on the stamping. I stamped using BM619 and Essence stampy polish in black. I did 2 versions so first, I stamped the image in black and then used a thin brush and Sinful Colors – Sugar rush to fill in the empty spaces around the buttons on my stamper. Once the Sugar rush was dry I stamped the whole image onto my nails by just pressing it hard onto my nails and gently moving it till it lifted off my stamper. I did this on my pinky and even though it worked perfectly, you can see the very small, thin dotted line inside the button didn’t transfer. I assume it was just because these pieced are very small and thin. For the ring and middle finger I did exactly the same but I made a decal out of it using topcoat. Once it was dry I removed it from my stamper and applied it with a topcoat. On my index, I used Omega Glitter polish in #304. This glitter is 2 thin coats and even though I wanted the light blue base to show, I am pretty sure you could get completely coverage with this glitter. It’s beautiful!
I also have 2 swatches for you,
Tip Top – Blue my whistle
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. It reminds me a bit of Cha cha cha but it has a very subtle shimmer to it. It’s barely visible on the nail but you can definitely see it when you look at the bottle. It’s really pretty and has a nice formula and opacity.
Sally Hansen – Pacific blue (old version)
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. This is the most gorgeous polish. I used 2 coats but this is definitely a one coater. The best opacity and the formula is fantastic too. Of course, this is the old version. The new version is nothing like it. You can tell the difference by the difference in colour but also the X in ‘Xtreme wear’ is different. It has a longer ‘leg’ on the new side that is really the new branding on the bottles. Don’t get it.
Anyway, it’s all blue! What do you think? I am pretty sure I nailed the blue theme but what do you think of how it came out? I can’t wait to see what the others came up with! If you want to see as well have a look at the InLinkz thingy below.
