I have never loved neutral/nude nail polishes. Like, yes but they were never the first ones I looked at. The lovely Gee Whiskers! has made me fall in love with these shades again. She always has the most gorgeous pictures on her blog and often with gorgeous neutral/nude shades of polish. My new love has made me go hunting for some of these shades. I thought I would share some of my favourites I have in my collection.
Essence – Cafe Ole
This polish is the perfect nude. It is just gorgeous. Two coats with no top coat. I wore this for 4 days and I loved from beginning to end. It is the perfect colour for work. It is the perfect base for nail art. It looks so elegant. This one is from the Essence Nude Glam collection. This collection has a few nudes / neutrals from the very light to darker.
Essence – 1000 Miles Away
This one is very similar to Cafe Ole in colour but not the same. 1000 Miles Away also has an almost pearl shimmer to it. Just as beautiful. This is also two coats with no top coat. This is from the standard Essence Colour & Go range
Essence – Ballerina’s Charm
This one was the surprise for me. Unfortunately in my photo’s it looks a bit more lilac/purple than it does in real life. It’s close but a bit more neutral. This is two coats with no top coat. I adore this colour. It really is a surprise in a bottle. It also has a very subtle shimmer. I will let the polish speak for itself.
Essence – Grey-t to be here
This is another favourite. Gorgeous neutral that goes with any colour. This beauty has a subtle pink shimmer that is a total surprise. I couldn’t stop staring at my hands while I was wearing this. This is two coats with no top coat.
Essence – Modern Romance
This is a beautiful colour but I don’t think it suits me at all. It’s a peachy colour that is a slight bit lighter than my photo shows. This is two coats with no top coat but looking at the photo I should’ve added another thin coat.
Sinful Colors – Nirvana
This is a much darker shade than any of the others above. I love this one too. It’s almost chocolaty in texture and in certain lights in colour too. This is supposed to dry to a matte finish but it seemed to only be matte-like after a good few hours. It doesn’t matter though, it’s gorgeous nonetheless. This is two coats with no top coat. Even though this is darker and most wouldn’t consider it to fall in this category I really like it. Now that summer is on it’s way out this is a gorgeous neutral shade for autumn / winter.
All of these shades are beautiful to wear on their own. They are also perfect for nail art. In fact, a simple search has given me so much inspiration that I am already swimming in ideas. You can accent with a bright colour or a different shade and it will look stunning. So many ideas! (Don’t worry, I am sure a few of those ideas will make it here) Which shade is your favourite? Do you love neutrals / nudes or do you prefer the brighter colours?
