Happy easter! I hope everyone enjoys the holidays and travel safe. It is lovely to have these extra few days to spend with loved ones but lets not forget why we have these days off.
In celebration of the holiday Siobhan (from For the Love of Nail Art) and I have decided to do some Easter inspired nails. I knew I wanted to do these because I have seen such cute little easter designs lately but I did not factor in how much time I would have available to me. I did manage to do them and I would probably have done another design as well if I had a bit more time. Instead, you only get to see the one. Now, brace yourself. My bunny looks like he is avidly taking part in Movember (even though he is way too early – or maybe late?). You can click on any image to see a bigger version.
Starting on my pinky finger (far right) that is a little chick hatching / sitting in a cracked egg. My ring finger and middle finger (as well as thumb) is hand painted easter eggs and my pointer finger is a little bunny face, My idea was to make the hand painted eggs look JUST like hand painted eggs you do as crafts with the kids etc. I would’ve liked to be a little neater with the lines etc but in the end I kept them as is because I think it’s perfect for what they were intended to be. As you can see I used so many colours so to make it a little easier I will go finger by finger.
My Pinky:
The base colour is two coats of Essence – Wanna be your sunshine. When that I was dry I used my L.A. Colors striper in white to make the zig zag pattern of the cracked egg and to fill in the egg to my tip. I then used Essence – Black is back and my dotting tool for the eyes and Tip Top – Orange you lovely and the dotting tool to make the little beak. Then with the egg part I used Essence – Absolutely blue and the striper brush to make the lines and Essence – Free hugs and dotting tool to make the dots.
Ring Finger:
The base colour is two coats of Sinful Colors – Snow me white. Then I used my striping brush with Essence – Wanna be your sunshine (yellow) and Essence – Oh my glitter! (purple) to make the lines and the zig zag pattern. Then with my dotting tool I used Essence – Free hugs (pink) and Essence – Lime Up (green) for the dots. I then wanted to add a bit of a sparkle so I did a thin coat of Sinful Colors – Opal Glitter. FYI: The Essence – Lime Up is still in the old Essence bottles and that colour has been discontinued but in the new bottles I am 99% sure it is now called LOL.
Middle Finger
Again, two coats of Sinful Colors – Snow me white as the base colour. Then with the striper brush I used Essence – Absolutely blue, Essence – Free Hugs and Essence – Lime Up to draw the lines and Essence – Wanna be your sunshine and Essence – Oh my glitter to do the zig zag pattern. Then with the dotting tool I made polka dots using Essence – Oh my glitter. I also added the little bit of sparkle here with Sinful Colors – Opal Glitter.
Pointer Finger:
Here the base colour is 2 coats of Essence 0 Absolutely Blue. When that was dry I used my L.A. Colors striper in white to paint the roundish shape of the head on the tip of my nail. Using the same striper I then made the two strips for the ears. Once that was dry I used Essence – Sweet as Candy (light pink) for the detail inside the bunny ears. Then I used Essence – Black is back and dotting tool to make the eyes and mouth (or moustache seeing as he is a Movember bunny) and again Tip Top – Orange you lovely for the nose.
I then topped it all off with a nice thick coat of Essence Nail Art Sealing Top Coat.
Please go and look at Siobhan’s nails. They are so cute and gorgeous! She was the one who inspired me to start all this and she is super talented and really creative. She created this monster!!
Do you think this is a passable easter idea? In some lights I think the bunny looks more like the playboy bunny than the easter bunny but he will do. He’s cute 😉 The little chick is just as cute. Wishing each and every one of you a safe and happy Easter and lots of memories made with loved ones. Keep safe!
Thanks for reading.
