I have seen so many amazing looks done with real feathers and I have always been too scared to even try. It looks so gorgeous but surely *I* couldn’t do it? I recently bought some feathers from BornPrettyStore just in case I ever decided to give it a try.
That’s just what I did. I gave it a try. It turned out to be easy enough to do to some degree. I really liked how it looked but in retrospect I wish I had put in a little more effort to get it perfect. Either way, it was good enough for a first try and I really liked how it looked.
I started off with 2 coats of Tip Top – Cha Cha Cha. I simply adore this colour.
Once the Cha Cha Cha was completely dry I used a clear topcoat to provide the ‘glue’ for the feather to stick to. I did one finger at a time after the topcoat I put the whole feather over the wet topcoat. I then gently patted the feather down to make sure it got stuck really well onto the nail. I then left it as is and moved onto the next nail where I did exactly the same. I didn’t take a decent photo of the feather but I did take one with my phone.
Once the topcoat was starting to dry a little I used scissors to cut the feather even with my nail tip. I used normal scissors but I think smaller, nail scissors would’ve been better and easier to use to get as close to my nail as possible.
After cutting the feather I used topcoat again to even out my nails. I used the Essence – Gel Look topcoat because it is much thicker and I thought it would need the extra goopiness. I don’t think it was the best choice. I should rather have used a thinner topcoat but used 2 coats. It just meant it took a bit longer to dry. I still really liked how it turned out though. I think the feather went so well with Cha Cha Cha.
