After posting my Batman nails the other day, Imka from Glamorous Glitter (Happy Birthday lovely. Hope you have an amazing day!!!) suggested I do a Hello Kitty inspired mani. It totally inspired me and I have the perfect Hello Kitty nails in mind. In the mean time I have something a little different.
First. This didn’t come out as perfectly as I had hoped. I kinda blame feeling sick as a dog for all the mess I made but it could quite possibly be lack of talent. Either way, I like the idea more than how it actually came out. Ok, not really. I really like how it looks on my nails too. Because these photos are all so close up it really shows up every flaw. So no, it isn’t perfect. How about we focus on the idea and not the execution ok? Thanks 🙂
So I started off with gorgeous pink. This is Revlon – Bubblegum:
This is two coats with no topcoat. A gorgeous, scented pink that was flawless in two coats. It does smell like bubblegum, but more like the old Vicks bubblegum. Not completely unpleasant.
I then had the Hello Kitty Skull and Crossbones decals from LuckyStarStyle. I added the decal to my ring finger and then stamped the other fingers. Let me show you first:
So using all Essence image plates, I stamped my thumb and pinky finger with the polka dots. I then used the bow image and stamped two of them on my middle finger. I then used a swirly pattern on my index finger. On my index finger a small piece of the image didn’t transfer well and because I didn’t have a topcoat over the pink / under the stamp, I wasn’t very comfortable with fixing it so unfortunately it had to stay.
I then added my topcoat. The topcoat dragged the stamping a little bit but you can only really tell when you enlarge the images a bit more 😉
I absolutely loved the idea and I wish the stamping turned out a little better. I haven’t been stamping very much lately and I think I need more practice. I would also love to find a few perfect stamping polishes so if you have any ideas please let me know.
So instead of a Hello Kitty I thought I would start with a bit of Bye Bye Kitty. I really loved the idea of this. Look out for my REAL Hello Kitty nails soon though. 😉
What do you think? Do you love it or hate it? Do you have ideas you would like for me to try or recreate? Let me know, I am always up for a challenge.
Thanks for reading.

I’m a big hello kitty fan (hides in my room with all my stuff) so I really adore this mani. So girly and pink!

Hahahaha Thanks Lynette. I have never admitted it before but I am such a closet Hello Kitty Fan. I just vicariously through our goddaughter! 😉
Kerry
The decal is so so cute! Love it!
I have sad news – I looked for the OPI liquid sand polishes but sorbet only has them at Gauteng branches (I’m near Stellenbosch) and when I went to the perfect10 near me, the lady there didn’t even know what I was talking about! Only when I said ‘the textured ones’ did she tell me they didn’t have them 🙁 So still no textures for me…

Oh no Kerry that is not cool. Which one/s are you after? I am happy to help you from my side if you want? I am in Durban and both our stores had. If you want me to help you I am happy to. You can email me on michelle (at) ordinarymisfit (dot) com if you want.
Imka

One does not simply see the Skull Hello Kitty and not go “Squeeeeee!”. So awesome! And I might just buy scented Revlon polishes again after this post! My scented polish are sheer to the max! Like 5 coats and I still see VNL! Grrrrr! Luckily I only buy Revlon when they are marked down! Lol

LOL!!!! Thanks T! I thought you would appreciate a little bye bye kitty. I have also only had super sheer scented polishes so this one was a huge surprise. I’m not a fan of Revlon (because of testing on animals) so if I have to give them my money I also make sure it is as little as possible 🙂

i can see the boo boo on the index finger but you know, because i suck at stamping, i don’t even mind and it doesn’t make me like this any less… I really love it. It’s girly but punky

Thanks so much V! Yes it was a big booboo. Not sure if it is the stamp or the polish though. Unfortunate!
Lesley
I LOVE IT!!! I cannot express my enthusiasm for this enough. It’s right up my alley, well done! 😀

Hahahaha thanks so much Lesley!! I must admit, I kinda love it too 😉
