Liebster Award(s)

In the middle of the M.T.V Challenge I was nominated for not one but 2 awards!  Nothing makes you feel quite as special as getting some awards does it?  Let’s jump right into it then shall we.

First of all, a HUGE thank you to Brethil from Druid Nails and Kerry from Painted Fingertips for the nominations.  It really means a ton to me.  Here is how it works.

The Liebster award is intended to give some exposure to small blogs with less than 200 followers. The rules are as follows:

1. Link back to the blogger who nominated you
2. Answer the 11 questions given to you by the blogger who nominated you
3. Nominate 11 other bloggers with less than 200 followers
4. Go to the blogs you nominated and notify them of your nomination
5. Give your nominees 11 questions to answer.

Righty, I have two sets of questions to answer and some of them are the same or very similar.  I am going to answer them one by one and will just copy the same answers to the same questions.  I am going to start with Brethil’s questions first:

1 – What’s your favourite nail art technique and why?

I would have to stamping.  The why I am not sure about.  Possibly because you can get amazing results from a fairly simple and easy technique.  I really do love stamping a lot 😉

2 – How many nail polishes do you own (excluding base/top coats)? An estimation is ok.

I currently have 258 polishes.  I probably have another 258 I would snap up in a heart beat if I could though 😛

3 – Which polishes would take with you on holiday, maximum of 5?

Ohhh this is a tough one.  One would definitely be my Zoya PixieDust in Godiva.  Gosh it is really hard to choose.  I feel like I betraying the others if I don’t choose them.  Sinful Colors – Daredevil.  China Glaze – That’s Shore Bright.  Tip Top – Cha Cha Cha. Gaaahhh how do I choose.  OPI – Don’t Pretzel My Buttons.  Ohhh Zoya – Roxy.  *sob* that’s too many pretties I couldn’t choose *sob*

4 – Have you ever bribed a family member into letting you do their nails?

Nope!  For one reason, I don’t really have that many family members around and secondly, I don’t have the need to do other peoples nails.  I like making my own nails looks pretty. 😀

5 – What is your favourite nail polish finish (creme, shimmer, etc)?

I love all type of polish finishes but my favourite would have to be cremes

6 – If money was no object, which nail polish or nail polish collection would you buy immediately?

Oh my gosh this is tough one.  More than likely every single indie polish out there.  I hate that they are not freely available to us and if they are they are expensive.  That being said, if I could there are also a few brands of polishes that we can’t get that I would love to get my hands on.  If money wasn’t an issue I would be able to find a way ;).  Some like Butter London, A England, Barry M, JulieG etc etc.

7 – How many blogs are you following yourself?

This is a tough one.  Following where?  In my reader I have 103 blog I am subscribed to.

8 – What’s your favourite book genre?

Ohhhh I love books!!  All books, any books.  My favourite is probably crime, mystery, suspense type books but I also love a good girly book.

9 – How do you keep your nail polishes? In a drawer, on the wall, on your desk?

I currently have them all in a cupboard in one room.  We refer to it as the ‘polish room’.  I made the shelves closer together so I could fit more shelves and therefore hold more polish.  I am close to a dillema though.  I am slowly but surely running out of space.  😉

10 – What is the best tip you’ve learnt from reading blogs?

Uhm probably taking care of my nails and always being honest.  Also though, and this might not quite fall under the same thing, I have learnt what I like in a layout and what I like to see ON a blog and have used that info to set up some parts of my blog.

11 – Which manicure are you most proud of until now?

This is a really really tough one.  I am proud of each one I do because it means I am learning and improving every single time I do a new mani.

OK, now the questions from Kerry:

1 – What made you decide to start blogging?

Gosh, do I even remember? 😉  I started blogging way back in 2005.  I wanted a corner of the world that belonged to just me.  Where I could say what I wanted and when I wanted without anyone caring.  My blog started off as an online diary.  I had also just recently met my now husband and he set it all up for me and so on.  Later on it became my place where I could share things and reach out for advice and love.  It was a place where I documented my love, my life.  Where I turned to when we struggled to have a child.  It was only much much later that V from For the Love of Nail Art created this monster and I fell completely in love with nail art and nail polish in general that my blog became a place to share another love of mine.

2 – What’s your ‘day job’?

I used to be a student and involved some community work but recently I am more involved with doing our family admin and keeping our animals alive 😛  We do have our own company but have started to do less and less work there so that we can close it. What I would love to do though is be a kangaroo mom or place of safety for babies.

3 – What is your favourite nail polish brand?

Ohhhhh noooo.  Don’t make me choose again!!!  Uhm, Zoya, and Tip Top….and China Glaze…..and Sinful Colors……and Essence….. 😛

4 – What is your favourite polish colour? (It can be a single polish or a colour family!)

Oh my gosh!!!   why do I have to make so many choices!!!  I will probably go with pinks.

5 – Which is your favourite blog to follow?

Nope, not gonna answer this one.  If I did I would be here for hours trying to type out about a 100 blogs.

6 – What is your favourite type of nail art?

Definitely stamping 😛

7 –  Do you have any other hobbies besides nails/blogging?

I love reading.  I recently gave away all my scrapbooking stuff.  I do enjoy beading and have a tons of beads and equipment to make all kinds of jewellery and goodies.  And I love knitting.  Yes go ahead, call me old 😛

8 – Which is your favourite season?

Definitely the colder months.  I can dress for cold.  I feel hot very quickly and on a hot day, even if I am completely naked I am still hot.  In cold weather I can use a blanket and jerseys and feel much better.

9 – What is your favourite finish for nail polish?

I love all type of polish finishes but my favourite would have to be cremes

10 – What are your future blogging goals?

I don’t have too many specific goals.  First and foremost I blog for me.  I blog because I enjoy sharing what I do.  Future goal would probably be to inspire as many people as I can.  (Somewhere in there I would throw in respect.  I would like to be respected for what I do)

11 – Which manicure are you most proud of?
