Hi lovelies,
I have been going on for days and weeks about #DBNPolishParty and it finally happened on Saturday. I was so very nervous. I am extremely shy and the thought of a whole bunch of ladies paying attention to me and what I was saying was a little terrifying. It started with a casual conversation on twitter and then I was showing a friend some basics. Before I knew it the idea had turned into something big and I knew I really wanted to do it. There, #DBNPolishParty was born.
The #DBNPolishParty was help at Blue Zoo and I must say I couldn’t have thought of a better place. The day started out gorgeous but later the wind came up quite badly. Weather aside, Blue Zoo gave us the perfect spot, with exceptional service and great food. At least for me. I am also very lucky that every single lady there was absolutely amazing. We all had great fun and I loved meeting so many new people that I have only had the chance of chatting to on twitter. Thank you ladies, you are all spectacular and it was an honour to meet you.
When I realised that there were a few ladies interested I decided to reach out to a few of my favourite brands to see if we could get some sponsorships for gift bags or hampers. I was so surprised by the amazing goodies they were willing to send to us. So most of all, I need to thank them all for making it extra special. We got hampers from the following:
(won by Geraldine)
(won by Verushka)
Twincare
(Won by Patsy)
Nicola from Run on Coffee blog
(won by Bridget)
We also got quite a few goodies for the gift bags. Soma amazing goodies. I am so very thankful for everything. I will be using my goodies and I will share them all in a separate post. Until then, I can’t say thanks enough to the following:
Essence South Africa
Coverderm South Africa
OPI SA and Twincare
Twincare
Chic Cosmetics SA
Xen-Tan South Africa
Ice Box Colors
Original Iced Cocktails
I think the gift bag is awesome. I can’t thank the sponsors enough for all the spoils. I wanted to show you a picture but I am going to leave that for later in the week. You will see why in a bit.
I very briefly showed everyone how I paint and wrap my nails. Also how I do clean up and what I use. I then showed how to make dots with a dotting tool. I was very happy to see how many people were eager to see how to do leopard print. It’s one of my favourite prints. I also showed them how to use striping take as well as normal tape. I also showed them how to do gradients with sponges. After that, my favourite part, stamping! Once I was done showing all my tools and techniques it was time to play. I had taken my +- 300 polishes with so that everyone can have as much fun as I always do. The ladies had a blast! In the process we also managed to raise R360 for the Movember Foundation.
Thank you so so much to each and every person involved. It was a lovely day and I am looking forward to planning the next one. I do have some photo’s and I am will add them to the bottom of the post as well as on Facebook.
Now for a little surprise. I have one spare gift bag and I thought I would share it with someone who couldn’t be at the #DBNPolishParty. I have been quite secretive about what is in the gift bag so it is a huge surprise. I will be showing you the contents of my gift bag (there were some variances) at some point during this week.
Rules are simple.
- All you have to do is leave a comment telling me what you would’ve like most if you were at #DBNPolishParty or what you would’ve liked to do if you were there. All the other options are completely optional. As usual, I will never force you to like pages or tweet or follow. I will however appreciate any love shown towards the sponsors.
- Prize is only valid for someone living in South Africa. I will only post to a South African address.
- The giveaway will end on Friday 6 December at midnight and the winner will be announced on Saturday morning. The winner will have until midday Monday 9 December to claim their prize before another winner will be drawn.

I am so thankful to everyone involved. The ladies who attended, the sponsors, the people who helped me with ideas and suggestions, Blue Zoo for a great venue and great service. Just so humbled. Thank you!
I hope that there will be just as great a turnout at the next one. Until then, enjoy the photos below

That looked like such a fun morning – I would’ve loved to have been there, especially as my sister, Nicola Meyer was also there!! What I would’ve loved to have been there for too, would be your demonstration on making dots with a dotting tool. I just love polka dots (I’m a retro girl!) so that would have been fabulous to see!

Would have loved to see how you did the plates.
Really want to try them out but I’m so dof I’d have no idea how to go about it.

I am extremely sad that I could not be there. Your nails are ALWAYS perfect and it would have been great to have learned from the Nail Master herself! In the end, it looked like your event was a HUGE success. Well done Michelle! 🙂

Ah this just looks so cool!!!!:) So pity that I’m a Jozi girl and I didn’t get to be there! But it sure looks like a lot of fun and for a good reason too!Well done on the do ration ladies!:)
I would of loved to well learn anything 🙂 I can pretty much only paint a solid Colour and do one or two pictures but that’s it. Stamping and ombré effect would be at the top of my list!:)

For me what I would have liked the most is maybe if I could have practiced manicures/massaging and stuff on some volunteers and I would have even offered myself up to practice on.

I would have loved to talk to other ladies about nail polish and nail art – none of my friends are into nail art. I would also have loved to see demo’s, especially stamping. I suck at it, even though I try over and over again!
Thea Madness!
I think it would’ve been awesome to spend an afternoon talking about nail polish and nail art with people that love it just as much as I do! Oh and you could’ve shown me how the hell you stamp so perfectly! Aaaaagh! FOMO!!!

It looks like you had such a great time!!! Well done. OMW, I’m useless when it comes to doing my nails, so any advice/tips would have been great. I would love to learn how to stamp properly though 🙂 xx

I think the thing I would have loved the most about the day was wearing a Mustache! i know that probably seems rather strange BUT I am obsessed with mustaches, I have rings, earrings, pj’s & even shoes with mustaches on. Then of course playing with all the beautiful polishes and getting all the tips you had to offer (Fangirl moment)

Such a lurker, but love reading up on how you do your nails each week and picking up tips.
If I were able to be there, I would love to learn how you manage to paint your nails so flawlessly and with no mess and marks! Love reading up on all the new tricks but just too nervous to try them!
