Hi lovelies,
This is just a quick post with a comparison. In this post I mentioned that I thought Essence – Flash powder looked similar to Zoya – Dahlia and yesterday in this post, Tina, Kerry and I spoke about it again. So I thought I would do a quick comparison to get to the bottom of it 😉
I have 2 coats of Zoya – Dahlia on my index and pinky and 2 coats of Essence – Flash powder on my middle and ring. As you can tell, they are not exactly the same. Colour wise, Dahlia is a bit darker, a bit more black. Flash Powder has much more silver glitter in it making it appear lighter in colour. Application wise, Dahlia was much more opaque in the first coat than Flash powder is. They were both good on 2 coats. Texture wise, they feel pretty much the same to me.
I can’t account for wear time as I have not worn the Essence for more than 2 days. In those 2 days I did not have any chips or tip wear though.
It’s obvious they are not dupes but if you are after Dahlia and can’t find it or it is a little our of your price range, then Flash powder is a good alternative.
Have you got either or tried either of these two? Will you be picking up Flash Powder? Lusting after Dahlia?
Thanks for reading,

Dahlia has been on my wishlist for ages but it’s totally out of my price range. Glad to see the Essence is kind of similar 😀

Yes I think Zoya in general is out of most peoples price range. Here in SA it is quite pricey and not easily available. We also don’t have any of the blogger programmes that the US has. I always like finding something close to or similar a Zoya shade because of that.

Well they might not be 100% identical but they’re similar enough that I don’t need Dahlia – I DO need just about every other pixie dust though…

Hahahahahaha I agree. Those pixies are gorgeous. The new ones coming out in the US has pink!!!! I die.

I like Dahlia much more, it is darker and more feminine whilst Flash powder is leaning towards the confetti type on color, in my opinion.

Thanks Yana, Yes Dahlia is definitely darker. I think Dahlia is first prize but it is also pricey and especially here in SA it is not easy to get hold of. In that case, flash powder is a good option.
