Hi lovelies,
Brrrr it’s cold. I really prefer being cold to hot but goodness, the wind is so icy. I hope you are all keeping warm!
The super lovely folks from Nail Candi recently sent me a whole bunch of their beautiful products to try out. I have been giddy ever since with so many ideas bouncing around of what I would like to play with first and what to do with them. I am going to show you the first thing I came up with. Looking back I think I could’ve tried something else first but the point is to show you the absolutely stunning nail veil I was sent. So let me show you first and then I will tell you a bit more about it and my experience with it.
I started with 2 coats of Tip Top – Sitting pretty. Once that was completely dry I taped off my tips and did a french with Tip Top – Armour plate on all my nails except for ring finger. I thought it could do with a little bit of sparkle so I added a coat of INM – northern lights. It was actually a lot more subtle than it looks in the photo’s but the sparkle is gorgeous and so worth it. I then top coated everything and used the topcoat on my ring finger to stick the nail veil down. Left it to dry and voila. Of course, my lovely camera hating pink, this looks a little off. The colour is much more the colour in the bottle than the colour on my nails 🙁
The particular nail veil I got from Nail Candi is called the Oriental Nail Veil. There are many options to choose from and usually more than one colour option as well. Good luck trying to find just one though. I absolutely adore the ones they sent me but I could not decide which other ones I loved most. It basically means I should order all of them. Anyway, back to the nail veil. You really should use nail glue to apply these but I didn’t have at the time and I was itching to use it so I decided on topcoat. I was surprised by how long it actually lasted. I did it on Friday mid morning and through all the cooking and activities of Friday it didn’t budge. We went shopping on Saturday, came home and chased dogs (yes that :/) and it still didn’t budge. By Saturday night I decided to remove it because I didn’t want to lose it and I thought I was pushing my luck keeping it on any longer. If you were using nail glue, that veil would not be going anywhere.
Another thing I really appreciated is that the back of the veil is slightly curved to fit the shape of your nail better. This means there is more of the product sticking to your actual nail when you apply it. The more of it is touching the nail the longer it will last. The fact that it is curved means good wearing time without worrying about losing your precious nail jewels. These are completely reusable as well so once you have removed them, you can clean them up and put them away for the next time you want to use them. How amazing is that? Want to hear the best part? The Nail Candi nail veils range from R90 – R125 for 2! 100% reusable, gorgeous and affordable.
I am not going to lie. I was a little worried at first that it would feel too bulky or in the way once I had it on. Or that I would get it stuck on everything. I was very pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to wear. I barely noticed it most of the time (except for the sparkle and shiny, which was hard to ignore and not stare at) and only once did I feel there was something there when I ran my fingers through my hair. Considering I had it applied with topcoat and not nail glue, I really thought the first time it comes in contact with my hair it would be a goner.
What do you think? Do you love it as much as I do? So here is a question, what colour combination or design would you have paired with this nail veil? I might just do a few of them.
Keep up to date with new products and new designs from Nail Candi (or just to tell them how awesome their goodies are) by following them on their various social media pages:

Stunning mani. I really love it. I would not have dared wear it with top coat only, I would have been too paranoid about it going missing! Nail glue is the bomb diggety for these though and fairly cheap too.

Thanks so much. By now you know the whole nail glue saga. I am happy with the wear time with just topcoat on these.

So you used your top coat as the glue??? am i right? I love their crown I would love to see a pairing of the Nail Cando crown with something like Tip Top Champagne Whispers and a very light pink Perhaps the Meringue Surprise

Yes Tina, I just used the topcoat as the glue. It worked really really well. What a great idea for a combination. I love the crowns too. I must look for it.

I like how well the rest of the mani complements the veil. 🙂
