Hi lovelies,
It’s weekend! Thank goodness right? I actually have quite a busy day today so I just have a quick comparison for you between two silver textures.
Here I have 2 coats of Rimmel – Shooting star on my middle and ring fingers and 2 coats of Essence – Be my lucky star on my pinky and index. When I applied the first coat, I found Essence to be much more sheer than the Rimmel. I also initially thought that it was a slightly different silver tone. After the second coat I thought they both had really good coverage but I might be inclined to add a third coat to the Essence. That being said, I also found Essence to be thinner and therefore a third coat would have been easy to do without ending with clumpy think polish.
In effect, they are both silver texture polishes but I did notice a difference in the glitter. Rimmel is made up of small and bigger silver glitter. Essence however also has some larger holographic glitter in it. If you look at my pinky for example, in the centre, closer to my tip, you can see a little piece of glitter that looks like it is reflecting blue ish. That would be one of them. It isn’t very obvious until it is. Does that make sense?
I actually really liked both of these but I think I do prefer the Rimmel one without the holo glitter for the pure silver texture part. I do love the Essence for the extra blingy part though. I am not sure how noticeable this difference would be to most people. Does something like that matter to you?
Do you have either of these? Which one would you prefer? At the end of the day, they are both silver texture polishes. It is so strange that at one point I coveted a silver texture so much and now look at the options! 😉 Have a lovely weekend folks and stay safe. See you on the flip side.
Thanks for reading,
Siobhan
I tried to get me the rimmel one but was too late as I can’t find it BUT luckily Mum got me the Essence one so I’m happy chappy 😀 I like both

That’s awesome. I also haven’t been able to find any of the other rimmels for the longest time and then all of a sudden they popped up again. I have since picked up the purple and the pink and I am in LOVE. But both of these are stunning.

They don’t look that different on the pictures but I can definitely see the difference when I’m using them! I like both 🙂

I think the holo glitter in the Essence is much more noticeable in real life.

I initially thought I liked the Essence better because of the holo glitter, but I like how the Rimmel one is just a clean, bright, silver, too. I guess it depends on what you’re looking for! 🙂

Absolutely Lesley, I think you hit the nail on the head. They are both great depending on what you’re looking for. The Rimmel one is much more opaque and pure silver which is nice.

Thank you for doing this comparison for me. I do think you’re right, the silver tone is a little different. I don’t like the essence textures because I’ve had bad luck with the red one I bought from them and that put me off, so I think I’ll stick to the Rimmel one this time around 🙂

I think the Rimmel one is more opaque but the holo glitter in the essence is stunning. I hope you’ll give another texture from Essence another try to see if you just have a bad bottle of the red.

Be My lucky star has a gold finish don’t you think?

I don’t think so, I think the holo glitter might have a gold tone to it but mine is very silver.
