31DC2014 Day 14: Flowers

Hi lovelies,

It’s Sunday already! Weekend is almost over 🙁  I am going to go make use of the last few hours of weekend.  Hope you are having a good one.

I love flower nail art of any kind but I am in love with the ‘one stroke’ flowers that is doing the rounds.  I have tried so many times but I just can not get it right.  I’ve followed tutorials and used so many different tools but the skill still eludes me.  I hope that Manic Talons and Lucy’s Stash will send me some of their magic powers.  I will keep practicing and maybe I will nail it at some point.  Today is not that day.  Instead I have this,

I started with 2 coats of China Glaze – Gothic lolita on all my nail except ring.  On my ring finger I started with 2 coats of Sinful Colors – Snow me white.  Once that was completely dry I stamped using plate Pueen72 and essence stampy polish in white on top of Gothic lolita.  On my ring finger I used the same plate and Essence stampy polish in black.  At this point I called it a day on the purple nails and top coated it.  I wish now that I used the solid flower for my middle finger but it’s done now.  On my ring finger, I waited a few minutes of the stamping to really dry and the used the lead lighting technique to fill in the flower.  The polish I used is one I mixed using a clear polish and Essence – break through.  I went in afterwards with a thin nail art brush and Gothic lolita to just add some darker sections.  Topcoated and called it a day.

What do you think?  They are definitely flowers but one stroke flowers would’ve been SO gorgeous! *sigh*  I better go back to practicing 😛  In other news, how gorgeous is China Glaze – Gothic lolita?  Let me show you.

China Glaze – Gothic lolita

This is 2 coats with no topcoat.  It’s a red toned purple with very subtle shimmer (red and blue).  It is really subtle though and instead of creating sparkle, creates a beautiful depth to the polish.  This is a beautiful formula and great opacity.  One of my favourites!
