Hi lovelies,
It’s finally friday!!!! Please tell me you have some great weekend plans? I hope to do nothing but sleep this weekend but unfortunately I doubt that it going to happen 😛
It’s that time again. If you haven’t seen any of these or want to know what it’s all about you can find the first post here.
This month MY turn to choose the them. Seeing as February is the month of love it made sense to choose something around love. But once Valentines day has come and gone, the idea of love has pretty much gone for most people. We all also know that nothing about me is ordinary sooooooo Tainted Love is the theme. Of course, that alone can be interpreted in many different ways. Believe it or not, it was even a little tricky for me. I did have an idea but I had no idea if it would work out and if it didn’t I had no backup plan. So let me show you my original idea and you tell me if it works or not 😉
Alrighty, first of all. This looked so much better in real life 😛 Let me tell you what I did and why. Oh, this was not the original colour scheme. I will show you that later as well and why I didn’t go with that in the end. So here, I started with 2 coats of Essence – Dare it nude. Once that was dry I stamped using BM311 and Essence stampy polish in white. I did this because this image always makes me think of love letters. And I wanted to start with something very lovey. I then used BM426 and Essence – Hex Hex to stamp the L, O, V and E on my nails. I used the darker grey colour because a) it was in my original colour scheme and worked quite well with the red and b) I wanted the LOVE to be visible but a little faded and subdued. I then used the same plate and Charlie – Red lights to stamp the H,A,T and E over the L,O,V,E. I used the red because it is bold and stands out compared to the rest. As much as red is associated with love, I think it is also a really great colour for the ‘hate’ aspect too. The reason why I interpreted the theme this way? Well, I had the perfect stamping plates for it 😛 I also think there is such a fine line between love and ‘hate’. I say ‘hate’ because I don’t think people always really hate someone but it is so easy to say. You see it every day (especially on Facebook) where someone loves someone else today, ‘hates’ them tomorrow and the next day they love them again. More than all of that, I think the HATE over the LOVE is pretty striking. Now the question is, can you actually see it?
The original colours I had in mind…
Not only is this a bit too much “fifty shades of Gray”, but it all kinda blurred together with all the grey. The base is Sinful Colors – Cool grey. The stamping with BM311 is done with China Glaze – Recycle and everything else is the same. What do you think? Revised colour scheme is better right? HUGE thanks to Briget for her help 😉
What do you think? Does it work? Does it say ‘Tainted Love’ to you? Did I miss the mark? Let me know what you think and also let me know what you would’ve done with this theme. I would love to hear other interpretations. I also can’t wait to see what the other ladies came up with!! If you also want to see what they did, check them all out in the inlinkz thingum below.
Thanks for reading,
Briget
