Hi lovelies,
Did you have a good weekend? I hope so. It’s a new month and also time for the next ‘Blogger of the Month”.
I am incredibly happy and honoured to have Squeaky Nails as “Blogger of the Month’. She is absolutely incredible and I know you are going to love her too!

Please tell us more about yourself and your blog
‘Ello! I’m Q. I’m 25, live in the Netherlands and I blog over at Squeaky Nails. It’s where I share my swatches, reviews and nail art with a focus on cruelty-free products.
-
How did you get into polish?
That’s a hard one. I guess I’ve always been into nail polish, but the moment I remember where my interest turned into a bit of an obsession was seeing Lady Gaga wear gorgeous grey nails (it was the shade Waking Up In Vegas by Deborah Lippmann, btw) on the cover of Vanity Fair. It started my love of grey polish and it’s still my favourite colour!
-
What is your own favourite kind of nail art / swatch that you’ve done?
That would either be my Lady Gaga Applause nail art or my recreation of a pattern I spotted on a pair of Dr Martens boots.
-
What is your favourite kind of nail art / technique?
In general, I love simple and clean nail art. I always find myself coming back to glitter gradients and stamped manicures.
-
What technique gives you grey hairs? Which one can you just not master or is your least favourite?
The water marble technique! I´ve spent so much time watching tutorials and reading tips but every time I try it I just create a giant mess. I´m at the point where I´ve just accepted water marbling is not for me 😉
-
How do you get your nail time on? (Work at night, early in the morning etc)
I like to work with daylight, so I usually drink a few cups of coffee in the morning before I set up my nail station (aka my desk). I leave the editing and writing part for later in the day when I don’t depend on natural light.
-
What has been your proudest moment so far?
Having my nail art featured in the magazine Nail It! was awesome. Other than that, I was beyond excited to participate in the 2014 piCture pOlish blogfest!
-
Would you share your ‘nail station’ with us? Show us where the magic happens
Here’s an old photo of when it was all neat and tidy. I’ve added another set of drawers since, though. Also, I store my polish by colour instead of brand. It makes it much easier for me to look for a certain shade!
-
Most embarrassing nail moment or nail fail? (feel free to show us)
I’ve done a lot of stamping fails hehehehehe it’s hard don’t judge me *pouts*
-insert every attempt at water marbling here-
-
What polish would you sell your soul for?
Waking Up In Vegas by Deborah Lippmann or Destiny by Illamasqua.
-
What is your favourite snack while doing your nails?
Does coffee count as a snack?
-
Which cartoon character do you relate to most?
Gir from the show Invader Zim, haha.
-
The only polish colours in front of you are black, electric blue and neon orange. What do you do and what do you use – and why?
I think I’d go for a midnight gradient using the black and electric blue polish, then using the neon orange to add some tiny stars.

Compare your favourite tv / movie crush with a polish and why?

If you could create your own custom polish, what would it be and what would it be named?
If I could create a custom polish today I’d choose a soft grey base, filled with baby pink micro flakies and holographic shimmer. As for the name, I think I’d call it “Plum Blossom”.

Thank you so much Q! It was so much fun reading your answers and getting to know you better. That Lady Gaga Applause nail art is possibly my absolute favourite ever too!!! Also, if you ever make that custom polish I will take 2 please, and thanks 😀
