Easter gradient nail art

This weekend just flew by.  I am not sure how it happened but I am fairly certain I went to bed on Friday night and when I woke up it was Monday.  I guess that is what happens when  you have fun, or at least so they say. 😉

This coming weekend is easter weekend and you know what that means right?  A week of easter nail art 😀 I really struggle with easter actually.  I know the big reason why easter and pastels go together is because for half of the world easter is pretty much the beginning of spring.  Except for us, it is the beginning of autumn.  So the ‘traditional’ easter designs are often very springy and feels a little strange.  That being said, who doesn’t love pastels right?  I have also done quite a few easter designs over the last few years that cover the bunnies, chicks, eggs and pastels.  I am trying something a little different.  Different to my previous easter stuff of course, not different to anyone else.  So let me show you,

I started with a base of 1 coat of Sinful Colors – Snow me white.  When that was completely dry I did a sponged gradient using China Glaze – Tart-y for the party, Sinful Colors – Sugar rush, Sinful Colors – Unicorn, China Glaze – Re-fresh mint and China Glaze – Something sweet.  I thought the colours looked so great together.  I topcoated the gradient and then left it to dry completely.  I really loved this gradient as is but I wanted to add an easter element.  Without it, it’s just springy 😉  I decided to use the bunny ear stamp using BM-H09 and Essence stampy polish in black.  I liked it, it wasn’t over done Easter but just easter enough.  I also making a matte version and even though I really liked it matte I had such bad shrinkage from my topcoat that the photos looked meh.  I’ll show you one though.

You can see the horrible shrinkage most on my index.  This doesn’t happen to me often so it’s even more annoying when it does.
