Hi lovelies,
Happy Monday. Happy August. I know it’s the 3rd already but it’s my first hello from here for August. Did you have a good weekend?
Blogger of the Month for August is one of my favourite bloggers. Let me introduce you…

Please tell us more about yourself and your blog
My name is Kerry and I’m a blogger over at Painted Fingertips. I’ve been blogging there for 2 years now. When I first got into nail art I saw all these other nail art blogs and I thought, ‘I can do that too!’… Little did I know how much I still had to learn (and still have to!) Luckily, I found that I enjoyed blogging and sharing my nail art with others; mostly I just enjoy creating nail art though

How did you get into polish?
It was a gradual process that started about 3 years ago. At that time I had maybe 10 nail polishes. I enjoyed painting my nails, but the most extreme things I did were a glitter topper or a differently coloured accent nail. My boyfriend used to comment that painting my nails was my favourite game. One day he was browsing a site that often shared interesting tech stuff and nerdy facts when he saw a picture of water marbled nails. He showed me and so it began. I looked up how to do a water marble and I started to discover the world of nail blogs. I tried my first ever marble, and meanwhile started to discover striping tape, stamping, freehand nail art, and the huge variety of polishes available. A hobby was born!

What is your own favourite kind of nail art / swatch that you’ve done?
Well now that is just an impossible question! It’s really hard to choose just one – I try to do nail art I personally enjoy so there are a lot I like 🙂 If I had to choose one favourite though, it would be the microbead flower nails I created. I can’t believe it’s been almost a year since I did these! The reason I was so proud of these was because despite the huge amount of nail blogs out there, I had never before seen someone else using microbeads to make a picture on their nails. There are plenty of microbead and ‘caviar’ manicures but I hadn’t seen someone else using them to make a picture. With nail art being so popular, it can be really hard to come up with a really unique idea, so I was super proud of these. And yes, they took a while!
-
What is your favourite kind of nail art / technique?
I enjoy mixing it up with different techniques but the answer to this one is definitely freehand! It might take a while longer but I get a lot of satisfaction out of creating some good freehand nail art.
-
What technique gives you grey hairs? Which one can you just not master or is your least favourite?
Stamping! I wouldn’t say it’s my least favourite – I like it and I do it on a fairly regular basis – but I just struggle and struggle and never get these gorgeous perfect stamped manicures that some people (like Michelle) do.
-
How do you get your nail time on? (Work at night, early in the morning etc)
Whenever I get the chance between work and other obligations. Usually it’s in the evening or over the weekend. I’ll often polish while watching a movie or chatting with Mr Painted Fingertips.

What has been your proudest moment so far?
Most of my proud moments have just been a nail art look I’ve been really happy with. Something I was super proud of at the time though was when Sarah from Chalkboard Nails chose one of my Halloween nail art looks to feature on hellogiggles. It was an amazing feeling that some nail art I did was noticed.

Would you share your ‘nail station’ with us? Show us where the magic happens
My ‘nail station’ is usually either my lap or the floor. I have a set of drawers where I keep all of my art supplies and polishes but there’s not a specific place I polish.

Most embarrassing nail moment or nail fail? (feel free to show us)
It was just a couple of weeks after I started my blog. I decided to do the 31 day challenge immediately after starting my blog – I hadn’t realised how hard it would be – and the nails I did for ‘yellow’ were a disaster. Even if you could unsee those cuticles, the design was still awful. I was determined to complete the challenge, so I posted them anyway!
-
What polish would you sell your soul for?
There’s not a single polish that I can choose. I’ve been on a very, very long no-buy so I’ve tried not to get too attached to any either! I can name a few brands that consistently amaze me, though. I think I’d like to try just about every single Picture Polish and Dance Legend polish that I’ve ever seen. The past few months Glam Polish has also been making my jaw drop with every new collection they’ve brought out.

What is your favourite snack while doing your nails?
I don’t usually have planned snacks while doing my nails but since I’m usually doing them in the evening, I guess it’s between a glass of wine and a mug of delicious tea!
-
Which cartoon character do you relate to most?
I’ve never really thought of myself in terms of cartoon characters, but I would have to say Anna from Frozen, because I am the youngest child, I have reddish hair, and I want to build a snowman!

The only polish colours in front of you are black, electric blue and neon orange. What do you do and what do you use – and why?
That combination just screams striping tape to me. I’d paint on patches of the blue and orange, add some tape, paint the black on top and peel the tape off so that the bright blue and orange would peak out from behind the black.

Compare your favourite tv / movie crush with a polish and why?
Well my top movie crush is Robert Downey Jr. I’d have to go with a red-based jelly polish filled with gold shards or flakies and small glitters, because he’s Iron Man! I did some googling but I can’t find a polish that looks quite exactly like what I’d have in mind. There might be one somewhere though! The hunt begins…
-
If you could create your own custom polish, what would it be and what would it be named?
Wow, that is a tough one! There are so many polishes I’d already like to try that are gorgeous. How about this: a turquoise holo base with some added holo glitters in slightly darker and lighter shades of turquoise. I would call it dewdrop because that name just seems to fit the colour I just described!

Thank you so much Kerry! I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know you a bit better. I absolutely love the polish you described to compare to your favourite movie crush. If you do ever find something similar to that please let me know. Also sign me up for some Dewdrop! Absolutely stunning! I can’t wait to see what is in store for the guest post, I just know it is going to be awesome!
Go and have a look at Painted Fingertips and give her some love.
