Hello lovelies,
Have a good weekend? It has been absolutely freezing the whole weekend. I just couldn’t get enough layers on but I sure did try. What did you get up to?
So I’ve been going on and on and on about the painting and renovations that happened at home. One of those things is the polish room. I promised to share some photo’s with you and that is exactly what I am doing today. There were still some changes made and goodies added later but this is most of it complete. So let me throw a while bunch of photos at you and if you have any questions or want to know more about anything specific please let me know. I was going to do a separate post about how I made my polish racks but considering it isn’t rocket science I am not sure if it will be of interest to anyone. If YOU want to know more about anything, give me a shout and I will get cracking on it.
One of the first things I did was paint my desk pink. These used to be the study L shaped desks and we replaced the desks in the study. I separated the L and painted it pink. I knew I wanted a pink desk. It’s also big enough to hold my lightbox, my work station (which includes my racks with topcoats, base coats, cuticle oil etc) and even enough space to work on my computer at the same time. I then got this really cute bookshelf. I like the different sized ‘boxes’ and it had a nice size top. In the bookshelf I can store my stamping plates, my stationery, my tools like brushes, dotting tools etc, my hand lotions, my stamping polishes, my files and planner books, my fluffy blanket for those cold nights and some extra storage space for random goodies. Of course, my polish racks starts close to my desk too. The A’s start there and it moves to the right and then to the opposite wall. I also, obviously, got pink curtains and made leopard print tie backs.
On my desk I made a coaster and a little ‘mat’ in leopard print as well. The little mat holds my pen holder, my little succulent and of course, the cutest unicorn pencil holder EVER!! (I am busy rematching Friends from the beginning. I have just started season 7 and I am loving it. Even better now that I can watch and do my nails.)
On top of the bookshelf I have a mish mash of goodies. Mostly, my swatch stick holder. I made the stand out of wood, covered it in leopard print and the stuck the painted dowels at different angles. At the time I was only about half way through sorting them and putting them on the rings. I then also my dragon eggs from Because I Shop. Behind those, I have little unicorn figurines. I have since gotten 2 more from mama zombie. On the other side I have my pink lamp. It’s beautiful and turns my whole polish room pink. It’s perfect for when I am NOT doing nails. It’s not really bright enough to work with but its great to have the pink glow through the whole room every time I walk past it. And lastly, how cute is that unicorn cuddly bug? She is just too darn cute AND cuddly and soft as all heck.
A different angle. The first 2 sets of polish racks. These are actually 2 together. One on top of the other. As you can see here, the pink striped mat on the floor is a firm favourite with the dogs. You can see here that all the doors leading outside here is now also chalkboard. This chalkboard door leads outside (the white door to the kitchen).
These are the last of the polish racks. As you can see I have one full rack that is unused. As of this very minute though, the rack only has one open shelf at the bottom left and I am expecting a good few more polishes any day now. Looks like that empty rack will be used soon. This chalkboard door leads to the garages. (That little round spot light on the rack is a multi colour flashing spotlight. It has no real purpose except that it is so much fun. It’s also the closest I have gotten to a disco ball. Watch this space.
Lastly, the hanging mobile I made with empty polish bottles dipped in pink glitter. Combined with some leopard print it’s pretty much perfection. All it needs now is one or two mini unicorns hanging and it;s basically me. This hangs just above my desk. What you can unfortunately not see in my photos is the leopard print canvasses. I just bought plain canvas and went to work painting pink leopard print all over it. These are now hanging on the wall above the TV. I was torn about painting the wall leopard print and thought the canvasses was a great compromise between having leopard print on the walls and not having to repaint the whole wall again. I also still have unicorn vinyls that must go up but the newly painted walls still need another week or so to settle before I can apply it.
Ok, I tried to keep the photos to a minimum. If you follow me on IG you have probably seen all of this already. I’d love to know what you think. Is it too out there? Too much? Just me? Let me know if you have any questions or want to know about anything specific. I’d love to share with you. Also, please let me know if you have any ideas of things I could add or goodies that are missing. I’m always game for some input.
