52 week nail art challenge – Week 9: Negative space

It’s time for the next prompt in the #52weeknailchallenge from Polish Portfolio. It is similar to the 31 Day challenge except  this is one prompt for every week of the year. You can share yours on any day of the week as long as it falls within the week.  Here is the list of prompts and you can use #52weeknailchallenge to keep track of any posts. I hope you’ll join in.

I was quite nervous about this prompt.  Negative space can be tricky because I don’t want to just leave empty spaces on my nail.  I wanted it to have purpose.  Combined with the stained nails of being a polish lover, this made me nervous.  In the end I quite liked what I did.  Let me show you

I made all these decals on my  mani mat because for some reason I wasn’t sure if the stamp would stamp well on just a base coat.  I also figured it would be easier to ‘colour in’ on the mat.  So I started with base coat on my nails and on my mat I stamped different images from BP-L054.  I then used a thin nail art brush to colour in using Morgan Taylor – No way Rose and China Glaze – Too yacht to handle. I tried to do a bit of random colour placement and on my pinky and index I kept the negative space to the middle of my nail.  I then applied them all using topcoat and that was that.

I really liked the colours together and I love the images on the stamping plate.  I liked how it came out.  What do you think?  Does it work for you? Any suggestions or requests?  If you’re doing the challenge let me know.  I’d love to check out your posts.
