It’s week 12 of the #52weeknailchallenge from Polish Portfolio. This challenge is similar to the 31 Day challenge except this is one prompt for every week of the year. You can share yours on any day of the week as long as it falls within the week. Here is the list of prompts and you can use #52weeknailchallenge to keep track of any posts. I hope you’ll join in.
It’s here where the prompts start to get a little trickier and requires some planning. For this prompt, I knew I wanted to do cherry blossoms so I that made choosing a ‘country’ fairly straight forward. So basically, here are my ‘Inspired by Japan’ nail art 😉
On my index and pinky I started with 2 coats of Sinful Colors – Snow me white and let that dry completely. While it was drying I made the decals of the Kokeshi dolls (am I using the right term?) using BM617 and Mundo de Unas in black and then I coloured it in using Essence – #lucky and Essence – be awesome tonight. Once everything was dry I applied it using topcoat. On my middle and ring fingers I started with 2 coats of Essence – Be awesome tonight and left that to dry completely. While that was drying I made the cherry blossom decals using BM617 and Mundo de unas – Black. I then coloured in the cherry blossoms using Essence – #lucky. Once everything was dry I applied it using topcoat.
What do you think? In hindsight I wish I had done a gradient behind the kokeshi dolls and maybe added more colour variety to the cherry blossoms but all in all I think it’s ok. I really like cherry blossoms in general so I suppose it would always be a win for me. I’d love to hear any suggestions on how I could’ve improved or maybe just suggestions for other countries I could’ve done?

Yes!! I also considered SA. In fact I always consider it for the flag prompt in the 31 Day challenge but like you say, it is so complicated. I guess at some point I am going to run out of other countries and I’ll have to suck it up 😛

I actually like the crispness of the white behind the dolls so I’m glad you didn’t do a gradient behind them. A gradient behind the flowers, now that would be something I would be interested to see 🙂
Ohhhhhhh now I feel like I should try it! I’ll definitely have to do that. When we have spring I’ll be inspired. 😀
