Hello lovelies,
Haaaappy Monday! How was your weekend? I actually did very little this weekend and it was very new to me. I think it was needed though so I am ready to get on with this week.
Time for another week of #52weeknailchallenge hosted by Polish Portfolio. As always, you can follow this # to see what other people are creating and you can find the list of prompts for this year below.
The prompt this week is childhood. I mean….that is a broad topic. I had absolutely NO idea what I wanted to do or even could do. I also saw some other people chatting about it and having some really genius ideas. In the end I ended up going with what was the easiest for me. I have a Barbie plate so I knew I had to do that. I did have many barbies growing up and I particularly liked all the different hair lengths and types. It also brought back some really nice memories of my mom and I playing and how she made clothes for my barbies. Let me show you what I came up with,
I started with 3 coats of ILNP – Misbehaving on my pinky, middle and index fingers and 2 coats of Zoya – Dahlia on my ring finger. I left everything to dry for a bit and then I stamped on my middle and index nail mod7 Barbie stamping plate from Mundo de unas. I double stamped using Mundo de Unas – Barbie (see what I did there) and Mundo de Unas – Black. I topcoated the pink nails and that was that.
I wish my camera didn’t hate pink so much. Especially this shade of pink. Some pinks are fine and then beautiful holo and glitter pinks get shafted by my camera. Anyway, I can’t decide if I like like it or just ok like it. I wish the holo showed up a bit more in the pink. It is a gorgeous polish show so next time I will get proper swatches. How gorgeous is Dahlia though. I forget how beautiful the original pixie dusts are. What do you think? What would you have done for this prompt? Do you have something that stands out about your childhood or would you have gone a bit more generic with general childhood nails?
Thanks for reading,
Joyce
So cute! I could have done Barbie nails as well. There’s still a picture of five-year-old me who has just unwrapped her very first Barbie and I’m cradling her like a baby 🙂 I think I still have that doll somewhere… Boo on your camera for killing pinks and holos. I guess my camera is related as it kills any resemblance of holo the moment it spots it 😉
I actually went with a childhood memory that also involved my mom. No pinks though, and (shocking) no blacks either!

I feel like we NEED to see this picture now 😉 I feel like 90% of girls born before 2005 can have Barbie as their childhood. At least I hope so. Everything was a little simpler back then 😉
