Hello lovelies,
Happy Monday! Did you have a good weekend? It is cooooold this morning. I love it but it sure makes the 4am wake ups a little bit harder than normal. 😉
Time for another week of #52weeknailchallenge hosted by Polish Portfolio. As always, you can follow this # to see what other people are creating and you can find the list of prompts for this year below.
The prompt this week is Winter. Just the thought of winter makes me very happy. Unfortunately (or some might consider it fortunate) our winters are not really that cold. Our days are mostly sunny and warm and you can wear short sleeved shirts. It gets cold at night and you might have to wear a hoodie or a jacket. Now in some parts, you wear a jacket all day and double up at night. For us, this is cold but in comparison it isn’t really that cold. I would love to experience proper winter cold. So my winter nails will not be having any snow as much as I would love to. I was however completely inspired by this pin and with a lot of help and encouragement from the Secret Santa girls, let me show you what I did,
I started with 2 coats of Color Club – Baldwin blues on all my nails and left them to dry completely. I then taped off the middle section of my middle and ring finger. I then did a sponged gradient on the middle section using Zoya – Dahlia and OPI – Tiffany case. I removed the tape as soon as possible and topcoated the blue nails. I then popped some matte topcoat over the blue sections and that was that.
I tried to do enough sponging that the colours were still vibrant but not too much that it became too thick. I’m not sure if I managed either of these. I wish the blue texture was more blue but I liked it anyway. This is nowhere near as pretty as the original inspiration but it was really fun to wear and I liked it. It also seems wintery to me. What do you think? Does it work for winter?

Joyce

Thank you so much! I see all the stuff I did wrong but isn’t that how it always goes 😉
