Hey hi hello,
How is your week going so far? Mine has been fairly busy so it means we’ve gotten to Wednesday in a blink of an eye. I can only hope it’s just another blink and we will be weekending. Also, Happy August! Can you even believe? I am considering doing the 31 day challenge this year but the closer the gets the more nervous I get. Anyone else doing it?
I am back at swatching a few of the older China Glaze collections. This is the summer of 2017 collection (US summer not our summer). When I swatched the Shades of Paradise collection I realised I really had to do the previous summer collection so here we go.
China Glaze – All glammed up
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. I have swatched this one before here and did a comparison here. I really love this colour but the more I look at it the more familiar it looks. If you have other comparison you want to see involving this let me know. This is beautiful though and has a nice formula and opacity. I suspect this might be a good candidate for Tuesday Stamping.
China Glaze – Chroma cool
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. This is a silver metallic chrome and it is quite brush strokey. It’s a really pretty silver though and there are ways around the brush strokes so it’s not really a big deal. It is nice and opaque too. I know silver polishes are everywhere – and I have many – but this is a goodie too.
China Glaze – Emerald bae
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. It is a green creme and one of my favourites. I love this shade of green and this formula is great. It is also very opaque and you could get away with one coat.
China Glaze – Flame – boyant
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. This is a super duper bright red creme. This has a neon type of finish so it is an almost matte. It could probably use a third coat as there is a slight bit if vnl but honestly the brightness distracts from it. This is another one of my favourites. Here it is with topcoat and I think it is even brighter.
China Glaze – High standards
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. This is a gold metallic chrome and is the gold version of chroma cool. It is also a bit brush strokey but I actually really love how the gold looks so they bother me even less here than they did on chroma cool. Nice and opaque and really pretty.
China Glaze – I truly azure you
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. This is a blue shimmer and is just soooooooo gorgeous. The shimmer in this really pops and the formula is really nice and opaque. I had a little bit of staining on my skin when I removed it so be careful with which way you swipe when you remove it.
China Glaze – Rose my name
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. I have swatched this before here and this is another favourite for me. It is a magenta rosy shimmer with a beautiful formula and opacity. I have to stop myself from reaching for it all the time.
China Glaze – Simply fa-blue-less
This is 3 coats with no topcoat. This is a blue jelly with a really nice formula. It has a typical jelly opacity and I really love this one. I’ve used it before in some nail art and I just love how bright it is even though it looks a bit darker.
China Glaze – Sultry solstice
This is 3 coats with no topcoat. This is a neon orange with a typical neon matte-ish finish. It applies nicely but it is also quite sheer. I like the colour but I am not sure if I like this polish. There’s nothing really wrong with it except for the sheerness but it’s not my favourite of this collection. Here it is with topcoat.
China Glaze – Summer reign
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. This is a neon purple with a subtle shimmer but it does dry matte. It’s a bright purple that gets a bit lost in photos but it is really gorgeous. Even though I love the matte finish I think the shimmer really shines with topcoat. Honestly, it’s gorgeous either way and the shimmer is a nice addition. Here it is with topcoat.
China Glaze – Sun-set the mood
This is 3 coats with no topcoat. This is supposed to be more pink toned coral. Not only does my camera hate this shade but I am not a fan either. It always leans much more orange. Even though it applied nicely I am not a fan of how sheer it is. This is 3 coats and I could add more. This is another one that is a least favourite. I think it is just the colour and opacity that puts me off. Here it is with topcoat.
China Glaze – Sunset seeker
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. This is dark orange creme with a matte finish. I really like China Glaze mattes and this is no different. I find them very easy to work with and the mattes always looks so velvety and smooth. This one came out a little strange on my pinky but I think that’s all me and nothing about the polish. Nice opacity, nice formula and nice finish. Here it is with topcoat.
That’s that. What do you think of this collection? Do you have any favourites? How do you think it compares to this year summer collection Shades of paradise? Do you want to see any comparisons or combinations? Let me know your thoughts.
