Hey guys,
This week has felt incredibly long even though it was actually short with a public holiday on Wednesday. While it felt long, it wasn’t a tough week at all. I hope you’ve had a good week too.
I was thrilled when I walked into the shop and saw the whole Step into magic wonderland collection still available. I often end up missing one and have to run to other stores to find them. I was lucky to grab all 4. Before I show you the swatches I want to mention the bottles. I got quite excited when I saw the super shiny, mirror finish bottles on the shelf. It is a little deceiving though as it gives the impression the polish is mirror finish (or as close as a polish can get). It is NOT. They are chrome polishes but not mirror like. The bottles did make my camera go nuts though which didn’t help. The bottles are gorgeous but very shiny. Ok, let me show you the polishes.
Essence – Beat the winter blues
This is 2 coats with topcoat. I was disappointed with this one. First of all it is meant to be a blue but is a very purple toned blue. It’s also a little sheerer so the first coat had me quite worried. The second coat was all it needed but it’s all rather a bit meh. The shade of the bottle made me expect a more royal blue. The shade isn’t horrible but it wasn’t what I expected.
Essence – Chrome into my life
This is 2 coats with topcoat. This is a silver chrome. It is very opaque and applies nicely but it is a bit brush strokey. I am worried that people would expect the silver mirror finish and as you can see it isn’t. It’s a great silver though and it is quite opaque. It’s ok.
Essence – Elfin whispers
This is 2 coats with topcoat. Finally, a proper colour! This is a purple chrome and is a big improvement over the other 2. It’s opaque enough and the colour is beautiful. This is a true purple and I wish the blue was a true blue as well. I like this one a lot.
Essence – Pink dreams are made of this.
This is 2 coats with topcoat. This is a pink chrome. It’s also a great shade and the opacity is good too. I like this one a lot. Not just because it is pink but because the colour is really great.
I expected so much from these and the blue was disappointing to me. The silver was ok but the purple and pink are great. Those two are the only ones I can see myself using often. I do however think these will do well with stamping so I will definitely slot them into the next available Tuesday Stamping post.
What do you think? Do you have a favourite? Would you have expected a mirror finish? Do you like chrome finishes?
Thanks for reading,
Renita
So happy I didn’t get these! I had them in my basket going to pay but decided to open them first. They look nothing like the bottle colours. Not cool essence.
