Hello hey hi!
Wow this week has been a bit intense. After a super relaxing week last week, I seem to have an extended to-do list this week. All is well though, I am ploughing through it at a steady speed. Somehow it is also downhill to the weekend now! How is your week going?
It’s time for the next instalment of Polished Pretties Monthly Mani. The secret Santa girls group (affectionally known as Polished Pretties – mostly because of the facebook group of the same name) had a discussion one day about how the Friday Triad feature was born. So we came up with the idea of doing something similar. On the second Wednesday of every month one of us will choose something as inspiration. It can be any image and it can be interpreted in any way. The ladies involved are (linking to IG) Heather, Melliska, Thea, Angela, Juanita, Briget Ren and me. This month it was Briget’s turn to choose and boy did she choose. I was bewildered, terrified, shocked. I had NO idea how I was going to do it. Let me show you her choice,
Yup, I was terrified. I knew immediately that I wasn’t going to be able to recreate it. Instead I was going to try and play with ‘textures’ and techniques. I was also going to try and stay in the same colour families. It wasn’t quite what I expected as I got a bit excited but let me show you what I did,
I started with 1 coat of Colour Club – Silver lakes on all my nails. While that was drying I pulled out my mani mat, dropped a few drops of Silver lakes, Color Club – Take me to your chateux and China Glaze – Saved by the bluebell. I then swirled them around with a dotting tool to get the swirly shapes from the Inspo. I then let that dry before peeling them off and applying to my nails. I then stamped the tree on my index finger using Born Pretty Store – BPL-031 and Mundo de Unas – Black. I stamped the building tops to my middle and ring fingers using BM-414 and Mundo de Unas – Black. I stopped here as I thought this might be enough (and I will show you later) but then I tried out adding the yellow swirls to see how it would turn out. I did those using Morgan Taylor – Days in the sun and Sinful Colours – Bananappeal. I topcoated and that was that.
I am not sure if that resembles the inspiration at ALL but I definitely wanted to go lighter and I had hoped the swirly base would link it to the inspo. In the end I tried adding the yellow ‘texture’ bits and I thought it looked ok even though it wasn’t what I originally thought. Let me show you the before
What do you think? Better with or without the yellow added? This prompt really stumped me and I didn’t think I was going to be able to pull anything off. I don’t think this really does it justice but it’s something right? 😉
Thanks for reading,
Briget
This is just frikken amazing!! I prefer with the yellow!
You continue to amaze me with your creativity and design.
P. S. I’m sorry for the difficult inspo ???#sorrynotsorry

Hahahah I absolutely know you are sorry not sorry 😛
Thank you so much. I wish I had your creativity and skills but I will keep trying 😉

Of course it does the inspiration justice!
You just created the sunny, sunny day variant instead of the starry, starry night 😉
