I am back home again. It feels like a Monday now but imagine how short my week will be ;). Have you had a good one so far?
It’s time for the next instalment of Polished Pretties Monthly Mani. The secret Santa girls group (affectionally known as Polished Pretties – mostly because of the facebook group of the same name) had a discussion one day about how the Friday Triad feature was born. So we came up with the idea of doing something similar. On the second Wednesday of every month one of us will choose something as inspiration. It can be any image and it can be interpreted in any way. The ladies involved are (linking to IG) Heather, Melliska, Thea, Angela, Juanita, Briget Ren and me. This has now also been opened up on the aforementioned Facebook group so the inspiration will be shared there one month before the due date. Hopefully there will be a few more new faces joining in as well.
This month it was Juanita’s turn to choose and she gave us a doozy. This is her inspiration pic
You guys, I was stumped. I love the colours and I really love the ‘fluid’ feel this image has. I love the brush strokes and I love the little droplets. I just had no idea how to translate this to my nails. I did try to recreate the droplets on my mani mat but I couldn’t get the effect in a small enough form to really fit on my nails. At least not without covering almost my whole nail. I finally decided to focus on the colours and the brush strokes. Let me show you what I came up with
I started with 2 coats of China Glaze – DJ blue my mind on my ring finger and 2 coats of China Glaze – Out like a light on the rest of my nails. I left that to dry completely and then started on the dry brush strokes. I started with first Sinful Colors – Snow me white and then went over that with DJ blue my mind. I was going to leave it at that but then I spotted my test spots on my mat and I thought what the heck, let’s try. I took the smallest ones and randomly placed them over the brush strokes. I topcoated and that was that
I am not sure if I pulled this off at all. I also don’t know if adding the ‘spots’ helped my case :P. I did try and at least stick to similar colours though. What do you think?
