Hey guys,
It’s finally Friday but what a strange time it is. It is day 1 of our lockdown and I know a lot of people are feeling anxious and stressed.
It’s the last Friday of the month which means it is time for Friday Triad with Juanita and Joyce. So once a month we will make turns choosing someones nail art to use as inspiration for this post. You can look forward to these posts on the last Friday of each month. This month it was my turn to choose. It has been a while since it was my turn and to be quite honest, I liked not having that responsibility 🙂 I went through my long list of options and then I settle on this gorgeous design by @nail_art_by_tal. There are many of her designs on my list so it was probably going to be her anyway (and might even be next time too :P)
I knew that I didn’t have the same stamping plate so I wanted to stay in the same colour family that she used. I absolutely love the shadow effect of her stamping and I really struggled with that. I did this 5 different times and eventually settled on the best of them all but I did not get the same effect she did. Thank goodness I stuck in the same colour family because maybe that is all that ties it together :P. Let me show you what I did.
I started with 2 coats of China Glaze – Meet me under the stars on my pinky and index and 2 coats of China Glaze – Minimalist momma on my middle and ring finger. Once that was completely dry I stamped on my middle and ring finger using Pueen114 and Mundo de Unas back. I then added 1 coat of China Glaze – Minimalist momma over the stamping to create a pond / stamp sandwich. I then stamped the same image again with a sight overlay of the image. I topcoated everything and that was that.
I don’t hate how this turned out but it is definitely not as nice as the inspo. I think the image just worked perfectly for it and it makes me want those botanical pates from Moyou even more. I don’t know why I didn’t like my attempts because it seems like the principle is so simple. I felt like either my ‘shadow’ was too dark or it ended up looking too busy. Maybe I am just full of nonsense and I now wish I kept the photos of the other attempts. 😛 What do you think? Is it close enough to the inspo to count? Pop over to Juanita and Joyce to see what they come up with.
Thanks for reading,
Juanita
Stunning! I didn’t even consider doing pond stamping! Look at how clever you are.
I think meet me under the stars would have looked amazing matte and as a texture. (Yes, I am very much looking for a dupe for DS pewter)

I’m so sorry I’m late… real life has been a b*tch the entire week, including the weekend!
But seeing your beautiful nails definitely cheers me up 🙂
I wonder if you would have liked it better if it were matte…
