Hey guys,
This week is just flying by. How is your week going?
It’s time for the next instalment of Polished Pretties Monthly Mani. The secret Santa girls group (affectionally known as Polished Pretties – mostly because of the facebook group of the same name) had a discussion one day about how the Friday Triad feature was born. So we came up with the idea of doing something similar. On the second Wednesday of every month one of us will choose something as inspiration. It can be any image and it can be interpreted in any way. The ladies involved are (linking to IG) Heather, Melliska, Thea, Angela, Juanita, Briget Ren and me. This has now also been opened up on the aforementioned Facebook group so the inspiration will be shared there one month before the due date. Hopefully there will be a few more new faces joining in as well.
This month it was Ren’s turn to choose I think this was actually her first time choosing too. She really knocked it out of the park too. This is what she chose…
Isn’t it gorgeous? Now obviously my brain says…do a colourful pastel galaxy and do the black drip over it. Well……3 attempts later and this is what I have.
I started with 2 coats of China Glaze – Maliboo-boo on my pinky and index and 2 coats of China Glaze – Belle of a baller on my ring and middle finger. Once it was completely dry I did a combination smoosh / little sponging on my middle and ring finger using China Glaze – Belle of a baller, China Glaze – What I like about blue, China Glaze – Crushin’ on blue and China Glaze – Purple fiction. I then used a small thin brush and Sinful Colors – Snow me white to make the white dot ‘stars’ on the galaxy section. I let that dry completely and then I used a thin brush again with China Glaze – Maliboo-boo to make the attempted drip / pour over my middle and ring finger. I then topcoated everything and that was that.
Like I mentioned, I did this more than once. My first attempt I used black and a drip stamping image and then used a sparkly holo glitter over the black. I definitely preferred the stamped drip / pour but I do think using a black holo polish works much better. I then did another attempt where the drip was horrendous but I think the galaxy looked better. So this is really a mish mash of ideas. I really liked the inspo pic though and I hope I did it justice. What do you think?
