Hi lovelies,
Are you having a good week? I can’t believe it is December already! I am trying to catch up on the tons of posts I need to do and I promise I will get to catching up on blog reading as soon as possible. I am starting to have withdrawals!
If you have read any of these before I suggest you skip everything and just go straight to the photo’s. If you’re new to the blog or haven’t seen these yet then I suggest you go take a look at Tuesday Stamping #1. I explain most of it there but will I also give a brief run down in this post. So if you’ve read it, scroll over the first bit off text 😉
Basically, this is how I am going to do it. I am going to be stamping over black and white. White will be the lightest colour you ever wear and black the darkest. What better way to see how a polish works over dark and light colours. Now, obviously, not many will actually want to stamp OVER black but it will be a good way to find out if a polish will show up over dark colours. If it shows up on black you can be pretty certain it will show up over everything. That does mean that if it is noticeable but not very, it will probably work much better over say a purple or a blue. I will try to address this with each polish I show you as well.
I will also be using the same plate for all the stamping to make sure there will be continuity. I chose a stamp that had some images with thin lines, with bigger spaces, with some detail etc. That way you can see if a polish will stamp crisp lines when they are thin or if it will smudge when the image has bigger spaces. I decided to go with Pueen11. I will be using the 4 full nail images on this plate.
I will show you 4 of my ordinary polishes with every post. If you want to see more or less per post please let me know. I will use 4 random polishes each time until I have worked through all the polishes I have (excluding glitters of course) and I will show you everything, whether it stamped well or not. I will also be showing you my first attempts at all of them. Sometimes it happens that you move the stamper a little bit when you stamp onto the nail. Or you waited just a second too long and the whole image doesn’t transfer. Or you press too hard and get the shadow stamping. Usually if this happens I would remove it and stamp again. It also happens that a polish looks so promising and after you’ve stamped you think, ah this could look better if I tried it once or twice more. I will not be doing any of that. What I stamp first try is what you get. I just feel that you can get a better result if you keep trying but the mark of a good stamping polish is how well it works straight off the bat.
***
Todays polishes were just random ones I pulled out of the stash. I literally just finished doing these and as I haven’t packed my polishes away yet i just grabbed the top 4 on the pile 😉
Sinful Colors – Greek Isles
Greek Isles is quite opaque and I suspected it would be a decent stamper. I was a little torn about the results. It stamps beautifully but I think it would look much better over a different colour (other than black and white). The colour was a little light on the white so it looks quite washed about against the brightness of the white. Over a different colour I think it would look amazing. It stamps really well though. It even shows up quite nicely on the black even though I think it will look better over a different colour. As a stamping polish, Greek Isles works very well!
Revlon – Princess
Princess is a light blue foil -ish polish and therefore I expected it to stamp well. It didn’t disappoint. It shows up beautifully over the black even though it loses a little bit of the blue-ness. The white seems be very bright in photos and it might make it difficult to see the stamping very well. It does stamp well and shows up clearly on the white as well. This is a good time to remind myself that the purpose isn’t to create a work of beauty but to test the stamping abilities of the polish. With that in mind, Princess stamped really well. It’s a foil, so it isn’t a huge surprise. It isn’t the nicest foil Ive worked with though.
Sinful Colors – Rise & Shine
Rise & Shine is one of my favourite polishes from Sinful Colors. It dries matte and has this very subtle shimmer. Even though the colour doesn’t transfer very well onto the black polish, the shimmer is much more noticeable on the black. This polish stamps beautifully! It shows up well enough on the black to make me imagine it on a whole bunch of different colours. Like yellow! It was also nice and clear on the white. Beautiful stamping polish. I can’t wait to use this one again. Clear and crisp stamping.
Tip Top – Rosebud Cherry
Rosebud Cherry was the surprise for me. Its a beautiful polish but I had no idea it would stamp so beautifully. Just look at it over the black! isn’t it gorgeous? And how crisp and clear is it over the white? Rosebud Cherry is a definite winner and moves right onto my favourites to stamp with. The possibilities are endless here again. I completely messed up my middle finger because I didn’t wait long enough for the white polish to dry. Luckily with the topcoat it smoothed out again but you can still see the lines where it ‘folded’.
What do you think of these? Do you want to see any of them stamped over a specific colour? Do you have an idea for a stamped design you would like me to do? Do you have any suggestions for changes or additions you would prefer on these posts? I would love to hear from you. Or if you want to choose the next 4 polishes let me know.
I know this post is later than normal but before the week is done I should be back on track with everything. I have a ton of giveaways coming so stay tuned!! 😉
Thanks for reading
