Hi lovelies,
Guess what? It’s Friday!! It is also the second last weekend of November. How crazy is that? Before we know it we will be singing christmas jingles and planning fun things to do on our holidays. It is just crazy! I don’t think I am ready for this year to be so close to the end. It’s been a good one. But anyway, before I get lost on my tangent.
Rubybox launched their Nailed It! Summer collection of polishes on the 1st of November and they were kind enough to send me a trio to try out and challenged me to create some fun summer nail art. Well Rubybox, challenge accepted! You guys, these shades are so beautiful! You can check them all out here and I would definitely scoop up a trio and save some money in the process. Good luck choosing which one (get all 3 I say!). Each bottle is R74.95 or pick up the trio for R149.95 (and save)
This is what Rubybox has to say about the Nailed it! Summer 2014 collection
Say goodbye to cloudy days, dull moods and drab nails as we step out of the winter shadows and into the light with the rubybox Beauty Nailed It Summer Lacquer Collection. You’ll find nearly all the colours of the rainbow in this selection, and among the soft pastels and sunny brights your signature summer colour is sure to be found. Inspiration comes from bright beautiful florals and warm beachy sunsets, the breath-taking feeling that a holiday fling evokes and the cheerful dancing of sunbeams in the light.
Rubybox sent me the Roadtripping trio so let me show you the colours first.
Rubybox – Fifty shades of yay
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. It is a blue grey creme and is so utterly gorgeous. I just want to pair this with everything! Such a beautiful formula too and the opacity is great. I fell in love with this one.
Rubybox – I lilac you a lot
Seriously? Could this be any more gorgeous? This is 2 coats with no topcoat. A prefect lilac creme. The formula on this one was also fabulous and even though the 2 coats was definitely enough it wasn’t quite as opaque on the first coat as the others. It doesn’t matter though because you won’t need more than 2. I could possibly wear this every day!
Rubybox – In sync in pink
Yes my ‘camera hates pink’ curse is in full swing. This is more of a coral pink for me so I can understand why the orange tones pick up more on my stupid camera. This is 2 coats with no topcoat. Like I said, it is a coral pink creme and absolutely gorgeous. It is perfect for pink lovers but also for those not so crazy about pink. And it is perfect for this time of year. Fabulous formula and great opacity.
Now for the nail art. I had so many idea and was very tempted to just do them all. But I don’t love chaos so I tried to stay away from it. Let me show you.
On my index and pinky I started with 2 coats of Fifty shades of yay and left that to dry completely. On my middle and ring I started with 2 coats of I lilac you a lot. When everything was completely 100% dry I used striping tape on my pinky and index to make the straight vertical line down the middle. I then painted over them with In sync in pink and immediately removed the tape. I topcoated them and left them to dry. On my middle and ring I used the NailVinyls Chevrons vinyls (but you can also use striping tape) across the whole nail. I then used my small nail art brush and alternated with In sync in pink and Fifty shades of awesome between the vinyls. Just a tip here. I would recommend you start at the tip or cuticle and once you have done both sides of a vinyl or tape, remove it immediately. If you let it dry too long it will pull the polish off when you remove it. Topcoat and you’re done!
What do you think? Don’t the colours just looks so gorgeous together? Do you think I nailed the challenge? (see what I did there? Nailed it!….?? 😉 ) Thank you so much Rubybox. I adore these polishes. The colours are stunning and the polishes are great!
Thanks for reading,
