Hi lovelies,
Happy workers’ day to you if you are in South Africa. Happy Friday to all the rest of you! It’s a public holiday today and I am off to the KZN chocolate and coffee expo. Heaven right?
When I told you about the Essence Roadtrip collection I was quite sad about missing out on the thermal polish from that collection. I knew the Hello Autumn collection was filled with thermals so I kept my eyes on shelves like a hawk. Luckily I was able to snap them all up (Thanks Nicola for letting me know as soon as you saw them) and they are stunning!
Before I show you the polishes I just wanted to mention a few things that are applicable to all of them. Saves me having to repeat it with all of them. I used hot and cold water to show you the different temperatures. The cold was probably the most challenging because once I had dried my hands and nails they were almost hot again. So some of my photos may look a little weird skin wise, I ended up having to move really quickly with the water. Lets get to the photos.
Essence – Beauti-fall red (cold)
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. When this polish is cold it is a beautiful dark red creme. Not only is is a gorgeous red but look how shiny too! The formula and opacity was great! I knew I would like this one and it didn’t disappoint.
Essence – Beauti-fall red (hot)
When it is hot it turns into a gorgeous cherry red, just as shiny too. I am pretty much sold already 😛
Essence – Beauti-fall red (In transition)
Here you can clearly see the difference between the hot and cold colours. It is coldest at the tip of my fingers then at the cuticle. Want to know how effective the thermal part is? For most of the (fairly warm) day my nails were on the warm colour but when it became cooler at night my tips were very much on the cold colour. The shift happened quite easily and is utterly gorgeous.
Essence – Charlie seen in green (cold)
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. When it’s cold it’s a dirty lime, olive green creme. The formula is great and I love the colour. Great formula and opacity too.
Essence – Charlie seen in green (hot)
When it’s hot it is a brighter lime green.
Essence – Charlie seen in green (In transition)
Unfortunately, I found this polish to be the least contrasting between the hot and the cold. Here I have it in transition with the tips being colder than closer to the cuticle. You can’t really see it to be honest. The most obvious is on my pinky. I will say in real life the difference is slightly more noticeable but not as much as I would’ve liked. Good formula and opacity as well.
Essence – Keep calm and go for a walk (cold)
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. When it is hot it is an absolutely gorgeous nude creme. I love this so much. I almost immediately fell in love with this one when I applied it. The formula was great too especially considering it is a fairly light colour. So stunning!
Essence – Keep calm and go for a walk (hot)
What a nice contrast. When it is hot is an equally gorgeous peachy creme. I love it!
Essence – Keep calm and go for a walk (In transition)
This is definitely one of my favourites and also one of the more contrasting colours between the hot and cold. Seriously, I can’t get enough of this one.
Essence – Meet my pumpkin (cold)
Here you can see pretty clearly how quickly it want to turn from the cold colour to the warm. This is 2 coats with no topcoat. While cold it is slightly more brownish. I wasn’t a total fan of this one when I grabbed the polish but it actually turned out to be a favourite.
Essence – Meet my pumpkin (hot)
While hot it is a much more orangy colour. This is also quite a shift between hot and cold .
As you can tell this is another one that is very contrasting. I did struggle a bit with the photo as it was quite warm and the tips ended up warming much faster than I would’ve liked but you can definitely still see the contrasting transition) soon.
Which one is your favourite? I am absolutely loving these thermals and I am SO thrilled I was able to get the whole collection for a change. These are still available ins stores right now and is available at Clicks and Dischem.
For your viewing pleasure 😉
Let me know what you think? Do you have any other thermals? Do you even like thermals? 😀
Thanks for reading,

These are all nice but they don’t compare to the amazing thermal indies we see! Not that we can get those reasonably here, though.

So glad you managed to get the whole collection. They are certainly lots of fun, reminds me of colour changing Hot Wheels my brother had when we were kids.

I was so thrilled to get a thermal polish-i got the peach/nude but the only time I saw it nude was when I dipped my fingers into ice water. Maybe i’m just too darn hot 😉

Oh awesome, I am definitely going tomorrow to snatch some up!
