It has been forever and I have tons to share – and I will. First though I had to share my latest obsession/love.
It feels like forever that I have been following @vonimoller on twitter and she continuously had pictures and posts about her nails. I then decided to subscribe to her blog. This lady is SO creative and smart. I have never really been into nail polish. I have terrible nails that are soft and tend to bend and break. Or worse, flake. For the last few months I have been using a very light, pale natural colour on my nails and it really seems to have helped with the breaking and splitting.
After seeing SO many posts about her gorgeous nails I was really interested to try something. Something different and nice. I wasn’t sure if I could do anything close to what @vonimoller had though. I happened to see a few of the pastel shades on the shelves and grabbed a few bottles. Worth a shot right? What I have discovered though is that Essence nail polish is the best one out there for ME. I love the colours, the textures and the shine. Truth be told it is the best nail polish I have ever had (and I am not including the very expensive brands here like OPI or Essie etc). The price and quality is just amazing. I will probably not buy any other brand. The only exception to this has been Sinful Colors. I couldn’t find a plain or shiny black and had to get one from them. It certainly wasn’t bad at all. I also noticed they have some really great colours out at the moment and I would consider buying this brand again. Essence is still tops for me though.
So, I had gorgeous nail polish and tons of inspiration but I was scared. One of the things I dislike most about myself is how easy I get annoyed with struggling to do something. I will rather stop completely. First, this was how daring I was willing to go. Not really so far out there or really creative but for ME this was huge.
*please excuse quality of all the pictures. I didn’t think I was going to be sharing them so only took phone photo’s in whatever light I was in*
After a few days and reading tons of tutorials I was brave enough to try something else. These photo’s were also taken before I actually cleaned them or anything so it did look a bit neater after. I tried candy stripes with a pastel pink and a darker, brighter pink.
I was super impressed with myself although hardly any good. I was also totally inspired. Next I tried polka dots with a pastel green base and a darker green dots.
I didn’t quite get the pattern right but was impressed with myself nonetheless. Then I got the new Twilight: Breaking Dawn part 2 collection from Essence (thanks babe!!) and HAD to try out something different. This is where I used the Sinful colors black and Essence Gold. This took a bit longer to do because I did one nail at a time. Mostly because I am still so new at this and not very confident.
I have SO many ideas now! However I have forced myself to wear each one for at least a few days or until the polish chips. Which has not happened at all yet with the Essence polish.
So if I can do it, anyone can. Pop on over to my inspiration and see exactly how it was done. And yes, I am so in love with these nail polishes!
Should I keep sharing what I do with my nails?
