Before I share all the gorgeousness that is purple, just a friendly reminder of the giveaways! Week 1 and week 2 are already happening and there are tons of surprises still in store. Go enter!
Is purple one of your favourite colours? I have a soft for purple. In fact, our guest bedroom is a room filled with purple gorgeousness. I knew that the next colour I had to show was purple. From soft lilacs to the darker hues. For summer, spring, autumn and winter. Purple really is for all seasons.
Before I jump into photo’s, a warning of sorts. My camera hates purple. It struggles to really capture the accurate colour. I took hundreds of photos and chose the ones closest to accurate so please also take note of the descriptions. If there is a big difference I will mention it. As murphy will have it, every single day that I took these photo’s it was gloomy and or rainy. In fact, in some photos you might actually see raindrops on my hands. I apologise and promise to do better in future!
Tip Top – Surfer Girl
This is 2 coats over a base coat. It might be a smidge lighter in accurate lighting but this is very close. I really like this colour so much. At first I thought it might be a little on the matte side but the longer I waited the shinier it got. It was interesting and I even got complimented when wearing this shade.
Sinful Colors – Amethyst
This is a darker shade of purple but maybe a hair milkier than these pictures. Does that even make sense? I think in sunlight this might appear a tiny bit lighter but in the darker, gloomy day I had this was a perfect representation of the colour. This is a creme polish and went on a dream. I can’t get enough of the Sinful Color polishes and this one was perfect. 2 coats over base coat.
Revlon – Rock Star
This is one of the few Revlon polishes where I really like the formula. No bald spot, no smearing. In these photos it tends to look a little more blue but it is indeed very purple. It is the same dark hue though and I thought it was gorgeous. I got the most compliments while wearing this shade (which is a little sad because I love the others so much too). 2 perfect coats over base coat.
Essence – Oh my glitter
I really struggled when taking these photos. It was by far the darkest, gloomiest day. It’s pretty accurate colour wise though (if you can look past the reflection) and was my very first purple I ever bought. This colour has a beautiful shimmer in it. Almost leaning toward pink, the shimmer is just gorgeous when the light catches it just the right way. 2 coats of pretty over a base coat here.
Essence – Break through
This was the worst colour to capture. My camera absolutely hates this shade of purple. As you can see by the quantity of photos, I tried to get it in different light. The top one was outside in the gloomy weather, the middle one was inside with the flash and the last one was outside with the flash. This is actually so much brighter in person. So pretty and of course, the usual perfect Essence formula. 2 coats over a base coat here.
Other purples that I have posted before:
- The gorgeous, soft lilac of Tip Top – Fairy Dust and richness of Tip Top – Crushed Grapes [here]
- The matteness of NYX – Lavender [here]
Apologies again for the shocking photos. I will take beter photos when I wear these colours again and come and replace them for sure!!
I am really looking forward to hearing which one is your favourite. In case you were wondering why I was doing these posts. I thought I would share some polishes in each colour so that you could see which ones you liked, how it looked on or even just what options were out there. I often see someone posting or wearing a colour and wonder why I never considered that colour or that brand or even that shade. I hope you like the idea?
Thanks for reading!

I love purple too. It all started with that purple gradient I did (or tried). It’s just so dang hard to capture accurately on a photo.

I really like Break Through. Different.
I also like that you do posts like this, just saying

Awww thank you lovely. I really enjoy doing them. I often sit and think ‘hmmm I wonder which shade of blue/pink/purple/yellow I feel like or how it will look. I thought these posts will come in handy. If for no one else but me.
I love break through. It is the hardest dang purple to photograph but it is so bright and gorgeous.
