I told you a few weeks ago about the NYX matte nail polishes. I love matte polishes and having a matte top coat means I can turn any polish I own into a matte polish. Luckily for me though, there are a few matte polishes on the market.
I got my hands on some L.A. Girl matte polish recently and knew I had to share it after posting about the NYX polishes. I found these to be a bit different so I am really glad I get to share them. If you need a refresher go and have a peek at the NYX polishes.
L.A. Girl Matte Indigo
In the bottle this polish looks amazing!!! I was a little disappointed when I applied it and it was so sheer. I applied two coats and still had some very visible nail line. I decided to add a third thin coat and as you can see it didn’t solve the problem. It is better but still there. I must admit it was a little better in real life compared to the photo. It’s still a gorgeous colour and I actually really liked the finish of it. It’s a rubbery kind of matte. You might have to click to view a larger image to really see it. Even though this was the least favourite of the bunch – mostly because of the sheerness – it is still a really pretty polish!
L.A. Girl Matte Alpine Green
Alpine Green was much better. Almost completely opaque in 1 coat but this is two coats. The colour is very nice. I don’t have any other colour that comes close to this. It also has the same finish as the Indigo above. I really liked the unique (to me) colour and I am already picturing this as the perfect winter shade. The finish also makes it quite eye-catching without being too over the top.
L.A. Girl Matte Pink
I adore this pink! It’s pretty obvious that pink is my favourite colour. This is a bright bubblegum pink with a gorgeous finish. This one was slightly sheer on the first coat but looks great after a second. In certain lights you might get a tiny glimpse of visible nail line but it wasn’t enough to be a concern for me. Even though might be considered ‘plain’ I just couldn’t stop staring at my nails while wearing this. It’s really pretty and I love it.
As far as application goes for all of these. It was really lovely. I found them really easy to work with – again, besides the sheerness – and the brushes were pretty decent as well. I am definitely not disappointed in these at all. You can find these at Dischem for R32.95. I really recommend you give these a try. The Matte range comes in quite a variety of colours.
Out of interest, L.A. Girls also has a ‘Brites’ collection (bright and neon colours), a ‘Metal’collection (metallic shades) and also a ‘Magnetic’ collection (magnetic polishes). These are also R32.95 except the magnetics. I can’t recall how much these are. I know they also have a ‘Sand Blast’ collection (textured matte polish) and ‘3D Effect’ collection (holographic polishes) but I am not sure if these two have reached our shores yet. There are more collections in stores as well. They also have some nail care products but I have not tried any of those yet.
How do you think these compare to the NYX matte polishes? Do any of these colours stand out for you?
