Finally, the colour of the week. I know this post is a good few days late but instead of waiting until Friday I thought I would start my catch-up with my favourite colour. I simply couldn’t wait anymore.
First though I want to apologise for the lack of posts over the last few days. My husbands parents were in a really bad car accident last week. We had to make a plan to get to them and get them back home again. They are now home with us until they are well but they need quite a bit of help. I might be a bit delayed in some posts but I am going to do my best to catch-up. It will only get better and better. So please be patient with me 😉
Onto the pink. This is – of course – going to be a picture heavy post. I LOVE pink and therefore have quite a few pink polishes. I will try to let the photos speak for themselves mostly. Trust me, they are so beautiful you won’t need much from me.
Essence – Free Hugs
Free Hugs is a very light pink creme. I had great application and coverage. The first coat was a tiny bit streaky but evened out well on the second coat. This is 2 coats over base coat with no top coat. Incidentally, this is also one of the first polishes I bought when the bug bit me. I love the shade of this pink. This colour has been discontinued in Europe but I am not sure if or when it will affect us here in South Africa. I would suggest if this colour appeals to you, grab it while you can. Just in case.
Essence – Naughty & Pink
Naughty & Pink is a brighter pink with an almost red tone. I had no problems with application at all but there is very slight VNL (Visible Nail Line) after two coats. I have here 2 coats over base coat and no top coat. I suspect with a third coat it will be perfect but it was so slight that it wasn’t really a problem for me even on 2 coats.
Essence – Ultimate Pink
Ultimate Pink is another creme polish. Brighter and – in my opinion – leaning more towards a Fushia tone. It’s a very striking colour. This is 2 coats over a base coat and no top coat. I had great application with no streaks or bald spots. Soooo pretty.
Revlon – Pink Lingerie
Pink Lingerie is almost a dirty pink pastel shade. This is 2 coats over a base coat and no top coat. Application was great with only the teeniest bit of streakiness on the first coat. With the second coat it evened out well. This creme polish was also a little thinner and I was a little worried that it would be too sheer for me but it was actually just gorgeous and a great to work with. Quite a unique shade too.
Sinful Colors – Dancing Nails
When I bought this polish I thought it would be more of a bronze – brown shade but it has had me stumped quite a few times. After asking a few people what colour they thought it was it – of course – made sense. This is like a rose metallic, foil-ish polish. I have 2 coats here over base and no top coat. Application was easy and great and it was almost completely opaque in one coat. I can see that it is a bit brush strokey but I know that a top coat will go a long way to make that look better. This is actually quite beautiful and another unique shade. It isn’t an obvious pink but it definitely should be in the pink family. A firm favourite is Dancing Nails.
Sinful Colors – Daredevil
Ah Daredevil. I adore this polish. It is a real surprise. I loved the shade in the bottle but the real beauty only comes alive once it is applied. I have two coats here over base coat and no top coat. This blue toned – bubblegum pink shade is gorgeous. It wants to be neon, it wants to be metallic, it ends up being amazing. In these photos I can see that it looks like there might be a tiny bit of VNL but I didn’t notice it on at all. This is definitely one of my favourites. Mostly because it is so much more than it looks like.
Sinful Colors – Fusion Neon
Fusion Neon is exactly what the name suggests. Neon! This neon creme polish is also one of my favourites. It dries to a waxy, matte finish because it is neon and I have almost perfect application with this. I say almost because once or twice I have had a little bit of streakiness on the first coat but evened out great on the second. Mostly though it is a dream. I have here 2 coats over base coat with no top coat. Super bright and beautiful. I have actually used this one a few times here on the blog.
Sinful Colors – Pink Forever
I absolutely love this shade of pink. I am also very aware that you must be tired of hearing me say that. I do love pink! Pink Forever is a creme polish. I have here 3 coats over base coat with no top coat. I do try to be consistent when I do these posts so that I can compare them fairly but there was just no way I could get away with only two coats here. This was quite streaky on the first coat, evened out a little bit on the second but was great on the third. I do still love the colour though. It’s still a brighter shade but not an ‘in your face’ brightness.
Sinful Colors – Starfish
Starfish is a beautiful creme polish. I think this is also a a dirty pink shade like revlon – Pink Lingerie but it isn’t the same shade at all. Does that even make sense? Love this shade. I have here 2 coats over base coat with no top coat. I was really drawn to this colour on the shelf and I really love it. I had no issues with this at all. Beautiful application!
Tip Top – Melting Marshmaallow
I have never worn this polish without someone commenting on it. When I posted about it the first time I have had so many people asking me about it and where they can find it. It is just beautiful. This milky creme pastel pink shade is very popular. I have 2 coats here with base coat and no top coat. I have never had any issues with application but I have heard the first coat can be a bit streaky. Second coat should even it out well. This colour also goes so well with anything, ask acidicice. She accented this with a silver glitter (Tip Top Rocky Road to be precise) and it was gorgeous!
Tip Top – Pot-O-Berries
This is a darker, berry shade of pink. I had perfect application on these 2 coats with base coat. I have no top coat on here. There is a bit of VNL and it’s quite subtle so I suspect a third coat would sort that out quite well. If I was going to put something over it I think it would be fine as well. This is a beautiful colour and you just can’t get away from the gorgeous shiny finish of Tip Top.
Tip Top – Sexy Bikini
You don’t need to know much from me about this beauty. I am sure you can see how gorgeous it is from the photos. I have here 2 coats with base coat and no top coat. I am not sure what happened to my pointer finger though. Love love love this polish! I know you do too right?
Tip Top – Sitting Pretty
ohhh shiny! Sitting Pretty is another gorgeous bright shade of pink. I have here 3 coats with base coat and no top coat. I was expecting this to be a bit sheer but it wasn’t bad at all. With two coats I just had a very slight bit of VNL so I added the third coat and it was perfect. Great application and that gorgeous Tip Top finish.
There are so many different shades of pink out there and you probably don’t need them all. Well most people won’t but I think I do need them all. I hope this post shows you a good few options and helps you choose the perfect pink for you! Or get them all like me, you can’t go wrong.
The Essence polishes are available at Clicks or Dischem for R19.95. The Sinful Colors polishes are available at Clicks for R27.99 (Some Ackermans stores might have them for R19.95 but with no names on). The Tip Top Nail Chic line is available from Clicks for R39.99 and the Tip Top Nail Addict line is available from Foschini for R39.99. They might have similar shades with different names so make a note of that if you are looking for a specific shade.
I hope that things will slow down a bit on this side and posting can return to a regular schedule. I will still be around as much as possible though. I would love to see some of your creations or favourite shades of polish as well so please feel free to share it all on the Facebook Page.
Do you have a favourite pink polish? Do any of these stand out for you? Let me know what you think!
Thanks for reading!

I LOVE pink too. (in case it wasn’t obvious :P)
I don’t think Essence is the best out there but for the price I think it holds up well. I must admit I have no idea why I am always so lucky with Essence though. I have never had any issues with them. Lucky me! I didn’t show any of the pink glitters but boy oh boy are they pretty too. I am not even a glitter fan!!
Thanks hun!
acidicice
OMG. I love almost all of them. It seems I am more drawn to the pastel and bright pinks where the darker ones like Pot O BerriesBerries and ultimate pink aren’t my cup of tea. Now lusting after the Starfish shade!

That starfish!! Isn’t it gorgeous! I also think I like the pastels and brights more than the darks. I use the darker ones more for specific stuff.
