Hello lovelies,
How has your week been? I have been busy busy as usual but otherwise I have been having a really good week so far. I am so happy that the rain has stopped and we have a bit of sunshine today. Since our flooding last year I get super anxious when it rains hard, especially for a long time. I hope the rain is over!
Wet n Wild being in SA is not new news any more but I still get a little excited every time I see it mentioned. I wish a Clicks store closer to me stocked it but maybe it is a good thing that so far it is only in Gateway. 😉 The nail polish comes in 3 ‘ranges’: The Wild Shine, Fast Dry and Megalast. I have one of each to show you today.
Wild Shine Nail Color – Lavender Creme
Lavender Creme is a dark pink creme that does not even have a hint of lavender in it. I am not sure why it is called what it is called BUT it is an absolutely gorgeous colour. This is 2 coats with no topcoat. It applied really well and I had no streaking or balding at all. I love this colour. I also love that it has such a glossy finish. The Wild Shine Nail Color range is available for R24.95.
Fast Dry Nail Color – Saved By the Blue
*sigh* Now THIS is a blue. Saved by the Blue is a gorgeous blue with a subtle (but definitely there) shimmer. This is 2 coats with no topcoat. Application was as perfect as Lavender Creme. This is such a gorgeous blue. The best part of all is I had no staining with this. I did have some residue on my skin but a simple wash with soap got rid of that completely. If you are a little more careful with removal I doubt you will have even that. So in love with this. The Fast Dry Nail Color range is available for R39.99.
Without comparing, I think this might be close to the updated Essence – The Boy Next Door but with smaller / more subtle glitter. If you would like me to do a comparison just let me know.
Megalast Salon Nail Color – Heatwave
Heatwave is a red toned coral OR a coral / orange toned red. I really liked the colour in the bottle but I am not loving it on me. I suspect it is a colour that has to grow on me though. That aside, it is still a lovely polish. This is 2 coats with no topcoat. This range has the bigger, wider brush which means you only need 2 strokes to cover your whole nail. Love the brush even though the other two brushes are perfectly fine and work well. This one is just a treat. I also had no streaking or balding with this creme. The Megalast Salon Nail Color is available for R49.99.
Without comparing, this reminds me very much of Essence – Redvolution. If you would like me to do a comparison let me know.
My overall thought:
When I got to the stand at first I was a little underwhelmed. I don’t know what I was expecting but I was so excited and had worked myself up into such a state about these. That being said, the colours are beautiful and the choices are great. At first look there wasn’t anything that blew me away. I can promise you though that the minute you give it a closer look you will realise how special they really are. I love the names of the Fast Dry Nail Color range. They are named after television shows with a twist. I think it is really sharp. All of them have a great formula and in all honesty I don’t think the Megalast Salon nail color range is far superior than the others when it comes to application. I suspect the wear time might be where you will see the big difference. I don’t often wear polish for more than a few days so this does not really bother me much. All in all I really loved these. I wish there were a few more colour options and I would LOVE to have the Fergie (or other limited edition) collection available here. If you haven’t given these a try yet or if you are unsure, I can definitely recommend them.
A huge added bonus is that Wet n Wild is a cruelty free brand. I really love this. Nothing says as much about a brand as their animal testing policies. Some of their products are also vegan. For more information and a detailed list you can see more here. So far there are only a few Clicks stores that stock Wet n Wild products. For a full list of these stores as well as any information about additional stores keep an eye on their Facebook page.
What do you think of these colours? Have you tried any of these polishes? Have you tried any other Wet n Wild products. There are so many palettes I would love to try. Let me know if you have any questions or want to see any of the comparisons (colour wise).
Thanks for reading!

Oh my gosh!! These colours are absolutely beautiful!! What great choices!! I definitely want to get all three. I have tried a red colour of theirs, I can’t remember which range it was though, but it applies so easily and hardly chipped or smudged. I’m dying to try other colours though, so I think these three are on must-have-NOW list 🙂

Thanks Laura, I agree, the blue is amazing! I used it in some art and it really popped.
Lynette
All three are super gorgeous. My branch didn’t have a great colour so I left empty handed.. But hopefully they will have some awesome colours in SA soon.

Thanks Lynette. Yes, I was also worried at first because the shelf was a bit empty but luckily I still managed to get a few beauties. I must say they look much better on the nail than they do on the shelf 😉
Bronwyn
I have the wild shine one in blazed which is like a peachy orange color. It is so glossy! Also very easy to apply but mine needs two coats to be opaque. Can’t believe they are only R24, wish I could grab a few more.

I love the glossy finish of them. I am really impressed for the price.

That pink? I WANT it! The shine is absolutely AWESOME! Would be interested to know how the wear of the ‘long wear’ compares. I’ve always been disappointed by polish that claims to last ’10 days’ or two weeks. Bunch of hogwash.

Isn’t it gorgeous!!!! I will try to do a wear test for you at some point. I am assuming you mean the Megalast?
Prettiful
Looks so awesome!
There isnt one Clicks near me that stocks it! Haha, but that may be for the best 😛

Hahahaha Yes Gateway isn’t around the corner but just as well. Otherwise I would be there all the time 😉
Siobhan
I feel like the other colours pale in comparison to the blue on you… They’re not ugly in general or ugly on you… They’re just not as rocking.
Yes please do a comparison even if it’s just for me and a photo of just 2 fingers

Thanks V. That blue is so striking and bright. Absolutely gorgeous. I will definitely do a comparison for you.
Lesley
I’ve tried both the Shine and the Fastdry formulas and have had good luck with both. I don’t think I’ve tried Megalast, though.
Wet n Wild has really impressed me in recent years. They used to be a cheap brand (both in terms of price and quality). They are still inexpensive, but pretty decent for the price! Haven’t had any major issues with their polish and I have a fair amount of their eyeshadows that are nice. Them being CF is also a bonus.
And, I agree with Voni…DAT BLUE!!!
Michelle Roberts
Thanks Lesley. I have to agree, just these few I have worn so far have really impressed me. Considering the price I think they are great. I have also heard great things about their eyeshadow pallets and there are already one or two on my wish list 😉
That blue is just gorgeous! 😀
Thea
I wanted to say “Wow, that Lavender Creme is actually really killer for a pink” and the I saw Saved By the Blue…it is so freaking gorgeous! And I completely agree with V. It just works on you! See Michelle, wear more blues! Lol

Ohh you lucky girl!! I really like the polishes even though there isn’t a huge variety of colours.
