Hi lovelies,
Happy April! (yes I know it’s the 2nd already) It is a super busy week here as we get ready for the #DBNBloggerMeet and today we are packing the goodie bags. It is going to be epic, even though it is crazy busy this week. Totally worth it!
Stamping decals aren’t a new thing but Thea from Madness Nails recently did this tutorial that was really easy to follow and made it look totally do-able. I knew I had to give a try. I decided to do a blue gradient and then do a gradient decal as well. Here is what I did.
- I started with 2 coats of Essence – Absolutely Blue on my pinky, 2 coats of Essence – Let’s get lost and 2 coats of Essence – The boy next door (old version) on my middle. I then started with 2 coats of Essence – Icy Princess (old version) on my index.
- Once that was completely dry I follow Thea’s tutorial and made the decal using all the same colours in a diagonal gradient using BM422.
- Once that was all done I top coated everything and good to go.
It is obviously not perfect but I am super proud of my first try. The blue shapes almost looked 3D on top of the silver and I couldn’t stop looking at it. I would’ve done one or two things differently though. I would’ve organised the gradient better so that it looked correct once it went onto my nail. It now looks odd or in the wrong sequence. I promise it was right when I started on one end 😉 Or I would’ve done the gradient from tip to cuticle. But I love it anyway.
What do you think? Have you made your own stamping decals?
Thanks for reading,

Hahahaha thanks Kerry. I can promise my second attempt wasn’t a great success. I am getting ready to try it again though so yes, definitely try again! 😉
NailCentric
You did a great job with the decal there. I love how this technique turns out but maybe am too lazy to try it out 🙂

I can not tell you how awesome this is. I love the blues, love how you tied them all together with the decal, the decal looks flawless (!!!) and it just looks soooo nice! When I did a stamper decal in the past, mine was kinda wrinkly. Maybe because I used Seche as the clear layer. Anyway, yours looks perfect and I looooove it.

Aw thank you so much! I used seche as topcoat but not to make the actual decal. I wonder if it makes a difference? *must try this*
Thanks so much for the compliment 🙂

Wow! I thought that was a nail wrap/sticker and not a stamping decal! I’ve been wanting to try one of those…I need to just do it! Anyway, looks great, and have fun at the meet-up! 🙂

Your decal is so much nicer than the tutorial you followed. Also I’m more of a pink girl, but I love this blue ombre.

Thank you so much! I’m definitely more of a pink girl myself as well but I think the blue worked. But there will of course be a pink version soon as well
