Happy Friday! Long weekend to boot as well. I can’t tell you how much I need this weekend. We are still struggling with the dogs and it’s cold. Hopefully the weekend will bring lots of relaxing and a way to sort the dogs out once and for all. In the mean time, just a short post today.
I’ve mentioned before how Essence ‘updates’ existing polishes and continue to use the same number and name even though it does look slightly different. I have a few of these ‘updates’ in my collection as usually they are both stunning. I have another one to show you today. I loved the original Date in the moonlight, until I saw the new one. It is so gorgeous and even though, in my opinion, they changed the colour completely, I think it is stunning. They probably could’ve kept both in the collection though but tell me what you think.
I am wearing 2 coats of both the old and the new Date in the moonlight here, with no topcoat. The old version (on my pinky and index) is a dark blue / black base with lighter blue / turquoise glitter. The new version ( on middle and ring) is roughly the same base colour but has silver and small glitter (shimmer). (If you have Essence – Over the rainbow, it’s very similar but the dark version of that). Here is a close up. (I’m sorry about the crazy reflections)
What do you think? Which one do you prefer? Like I said, I love both but the new one is just so gorgeous. And Essence has quite a few others with the blue glitter / shimmer so I don’t think it is a total loss.

I actually like the old 1 more, but then anything with blue always has my vote
I think the old one is beautiful but the new one is gorgeous. 😉
I have (and use!) both of these too, but seeing them next to each other I think I prefer the old one! I’m such a sucker for blue shimmer.

I think I like the overall look of the new one on the nail better, but I think the shimmer in the old one is more interesting. I am confusing myself, lol.
Hahahaha Lesley I completely understand what you mean. The new one is nicer formula and better opacity but the blue…man…the blue… 😉

I usually do not like when companies reformulate cosmetic products because result is so different from what the product used to be. In this I absolutely love the new version.
I completely agree with you. I don’t see the need to mess with something that works but I think they nailed it here. It’s definitely a nice change up.

Hehehehe I can’t deny the blue is gorge. I think if they took the new formula but kept some blue shimmer it would’ve been a knockout.
