Have you had a good week so far? It’s been so hot and humid here the last few days. Me no likey. It’s downhill to the weekend though. I assume everyone is back at work now so yay for weekends!
More than a year ago (almost 2 in fact) I contacted Clicks to find out which stores stock Nubar. I have seen one or two pop up in those sale bins so assumed they were only stocked in certain stores. I am a big fan of the brand because not only are the colours beautiful but they are cruelty free as well. Clicks informed me that Nubar was not going to be stocked in Clicks stores anymore. I had the sads. Then last year I saw in a sale catalogue that Nubar was marked down. I was confused so I was back on the phone with clicks. In the catalogue it said ‘at selected stores’ so I was even more convinced that Nubar was only stocked at certain stores. I asked them about ANY stores that stock it as I was sure I could get someone to a store, even if it wasn’t close to me. She confirmed that Nubar was NOT stocked at Clicks anymore and the sale was only to get rid of any leftover stock they had. I walked into my closest Clicks a few days later and found maybe 15 bottles of Nubar marked down. Many were duplicates so I grabbed what I could.
Imagine my surprise when I walked into Clicks again a week or so ago and there was a whole shelf full of Nubar. There weren’t many shades but a good few and it certainly looks like Nubar will indeed be stocked at Clicks again. I went to another Clicks and saw the same thing. I am so happy. They really are lovely polishes and the cruelty free bit is a huge plus in my eyes.
I grabbed a few bottles so let me show you,
Nubar – Costa Rica coral
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. It’s a bright coral creme. It’s such a beautiful bright summery colour. It’s definitely coral even thought it can look orangey. This had a great formula and opacity. It is almost good enough to be a one coater. It also has such a shiny finish.
Nubar – Green tea
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. I am not sure how to describe the shade of green but I actually like it way more than I thought I would. Also great formula and opacity. Another one that is almost a one coater.
Nubar – Hot fucshia
Sigh. I wish my camera played nice with pink. This is 2 coats with no topcoat. It’s a bright hot pink. This photo shows the right shade but it’s definitely brighter. You can even tell it has a neon finish (matte) but it isn’t 100% neon in colour. Good formula and opacity even though I could add another coat if necessary.
Nubar – Lavender
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. A beautiful lilac / lavender creme with a stunning formula. Opacity was also really great. For such a light colour, the first coat was almost completely flawless.
Nubar – Oh baby pink
This is 3 coats with no topcoat. It’s a beautiful soft pastel pink creme. On the first coat I was really worried. It was very streaky and patchy and I wasn’t sure if it would go well. The second coat evened it out well but I needed a third coat to really even it out. That being said, it isn’t difficult to work with and the results are great.
Nubar – Orange cream
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. It’s a light orange creme. I picked this up looking for a more peachy colour and even though this is more orange than peach it is definitely a beautiful polish. Formula was great and so was the opacity.
What do you think of these? Which one is your favourite? If you have a favourite Nubar polish let me know so that I can try to scoop it up.
**Once I have worked my way through the pile of swatches, I am going to do a few comparisons. If you would like to see any polishes compared please let me know and I will include them all. **
