31DC2014 Day 10: Gradient nails

Hi lovelies,

Are you having a good week so far?  It feels like it’s been a long week so far.  Not bad, just long.

I am just a little excited about this one.  I know I have had a few sponged gradients already but I thought today I would do a reciprocal gradient.  I was actually considering doing this for day 1 which was red but it was suggested that it would be a good idea for today as well (thanks T) so here we are.

I have done a reciprocal gradient before in pink but I think this one came out quite nice and different.  Let’s have a look 😉

 

I started with a coat of Sinful Colors – Snow me white as a base. When that was dry I did a sponged gradient with Sinful Colors – Snow me white, Sinful Colors – Cool fray and Essence – Fame fatal.  I started with the white at the cuticle and the red at the tip. I top coated to smooth out the gradient and left that to dry completely.  Once it was dry I used a few strips of striping tape vertically across each nail.  I then did the sponged gradient again and just reversing colours.  So the second gradient I did the red at the cuticle and the white and the tip.  I removed the tape immediately and top coated to smooth it all out.

What do you think? I am kinda obsessed with reciprocal gradient, I think you might see a few more around here 😉
